Palworld’s 1.0 release introduces oodles of new content, from Pal remodels to new bosses, and even full-on new areas. One of these new areas is our topic today, Palworld how to unlock the World Tree area!
Finally accessible in 1.0, the World Tree is the game’s de facto end game area, requiring a whole questline to open. Today I’ll be showing you each step to unlocking it, including relevant areas, the keyhole World Tree’s entrance, and tops for a boss you’ll need to bring down beforehand.
How to Unlock the World Tree Gate

Located at coordinates -838, 689, the Base of the World Tree fast travel point marks the last part of the World Tree area you can access while it’s locked.
You’ll encounter a small terminal that denies you access. The game vaguely points to you needing to do something to shatter the field of energy blocking the World Tree. Our answer lies to the east of the Isles of Murmurs, at coordinates -173, 33.
At these coordinates, you’ll find a small island known as the Deserted Islet. Right beside the fast travel point that marks the island, you’ll spot a woman who studies the mysterious ancient civilization that marks Palworld’s map.
She’ll give you a quest called Panthalus, marking 4 areas of the map that have parts for a strange flute. That’s our next step, exploring the regions to claim these parts!
Finding the Ancient Whale Bones to Unlock the World Tree

Four areas of the map will now be marked with golden quest markers. Each of these markers highlights one of four Ancient Whale skeletons that you can claim a bone from to construct the legendary flute.
These bones will require you to enter every type of bio palworld has to offer, so preparing armor to withstand severe cold or heat is very helpful. Alternatively, we’ll be going over some indirect solutions to force your way through these dangerous areas.
Southeaster Whale – Hill of Beginnings

Located directly beside the Hill of Beginnings, the first Ancient Bone you’ll need is found at coordinates 123, -525. Right at the tip of the massive skeleton’s skull is the bone, easily the simplest to find.
The low levels of the surrounding Pals and amicable climate make it as easy as climbing up the side of the skull. Approach it from the beach to the Bone’s west to get as close as possible, requiring the least amount of stamina to make the swim without drowning.
Wait for your stamina to recover on the lower bones and climb to secure Ancient Bone number one. You’re already one fourth of the way there!
Eastern Whale – Altar of the Windcaller

Let’s head further north for our second Ancient Bone, hanging east at coordinates 355, -110. Directly to the south of the Altar of the Windcaller fast travel point is the second whale fall.
Climb up and over the majority of the beast and enter its skull. The bone will be lying right in the center, ready to be acquired. That marks the end of the easy two, now let’s get a bit more exotic!
Western Whale – Scorched Obsidian Watchtower

On the opposite end of the world, towards the far west of the map, you’ll find the volcanic segments of Palworld. Smack dab in the middle of these volcanic areas is the Scorched Obsidian Watchtower at coordinates -515, -544.
From this fast travel point, head further west to the whale skeleton lying across the ground. Continue past the body of the skeleton, up the hill, and through the small cave made out of the fallen skull. Below it you’ll find the third Ancient Bone!
Beware of the heat and mid-level pals surrounding the area. Most problematic are the two mid-level 30s. Incinerams who like to guard the cave’s entrance. Use a fast mount like a Direhowl to loop around them and sneak into the cave. Once you have it, you can’t drop it, so going down from here isn’t much of a worry.
Northeastern Whale – Land of Absolute Zero

Towards the northeast of the map are the frigid isles of Palworld, threatening deep freezes and overtime ice damage. To the southwest at coordinates -262, 485, of the Land of Absolute Zero fast travel point, descend the mountain and past the Syndicate Base located on the mountain’s side.
Further down the mountain, you’ll find the whale’s skeleton, surrounded by fairly high-level Pals and Syndicate members. You’ll be deep within the low-temperature area, threatened by Intense Cold. While wearing warm armor can entirely negate the cold, any kind of healing medicine can negate the cold’s chip damage.
Snag the bone from the skull, and you’ll have all four! All that’s left is to combine them at a primitive workbench into the Ancient Flute. Once it’s completed, return to the Deserted Islet!
Boss Battle: Panthalus

Return to the Deserted Islet and talk to the Researcher to unlock the glowing tablet beside her. If you interact with it, you’ll start a short cutscene before being teleported to a small island arena with the titanic Panthalus circling you.
Utilize a flying mount to stay high above Panthalus while you pepper it from above. It utilizes a variety of beams and body slams, causing massive waves that are very dangerous to meet head on. Best to hang above while you chip it down.

Make sure you use a Ring of Mercy or similar effect to avoid outright killing it, but don’t worry about bringing heavy-duty Palspheres. Once its HP is at a minimum, its Capture Rate is at 100%, allowing an easy capture.
You only have 10 minutes for this boss fight, so make sure to prepare with your best gear before you head in. Panthalus always spawns at Level 70, so take the time to prepare and you’ll net a wonderful base defender and waterer.
Return to the Foot of the World Tree

Return to the Foot of the World Tree with Panthalus, and the barrier will fall. Congratulations, you’ve gained access to the final area of Palworld, complete with its best resources and strongest fights.
From here, you’ll be able to empower yourself even further to prepare for the final challenges of the world, like the Auri and Shoulong tower to the South, or the Sealed Calamity sitting in the World Tree itself.
