It’s always difficult when you bring nothing to a gun fight. The fight against Murto in 007 First Light puts Bond in an almost no-win situation, as you are going head-to-head against a guy with a gun, and your only weapon is your watch and the environment.
Part of the boss fight reminded me of the Arkham City boss fight against Mr. Freeze, where you also get tasked to defeat Freeze using only the environment, and every time you use environmental damage, Mr. Freeze will get immune to it. A similar gameplay mechanic plays out here against Murto in 007 First Light. Here is how I defeated this boss.
Since you don’t have a gun, you must stick to cover to cover to get around without alerting the bad guy. It’s heavily stealth-focused. If you are playing on a greater difficulty, don’t try to get caught by Murto, or the entire screen will go red.
Defeating Murto in 007 First Light

There are no weak points, running out the clock, stealth takedowns, or any such means to take Murto down; the only ways to get him down are by using the environment.
Fortunately, the room we are trapped in with Murto has plenty of environmental objects (Chandelier/ Fume Extractor/ Cargo Lift/ Flood Lights) that we can use to bring down his HP. Murto has only a three-bar HP, so put simply, we must use three different environmental objects, thrice, to take Murto out.
Also remember – once you use a certain environmental damage against Murto, he will not take any damage from the same environmental attack, and you must resort to using others to take him down.
Note: You can keep track of the environmental objects by using the Q-Lens gadget (Hold L1 on PS/ Hold LB on Xbox/Press Alt on PC).
#1. Environmental Object: Chandelier Drop

One of my favorite ways to take targets out in the Hitman games now makes its return in 007 First Light. Here, you must distract Murto near the Chandelier. Once he is under it, drop the chandelier on his head. A quick and simple way to execute the first environmental damage.
Normally, the Chandelier will have the Radio down at the bottom. Just activate the Radio as a distraction from a distance, and Murto will follow the noise, and this is the time you can trigger the Chandelier to fall on top of him. A single drop of Chandelier will take out one out of the 3 bars of Murto’s HP.
#2: Environmental Object: Fume Extractor

The boss room will also have a Fume Extractor or steam fan connected to the ceiling of the room with a red spotlight in front of it. Our job is to lure Murto to stand or pass under the red spotlight, and then activate the Fume Extractor to release the hot steam straight into Murto’s face or back. This will take out a chunk of Murto’s HP bar, leaving us to deal with only one.
#3: Environmental Object: Cargo Lift

It’s a square-sized platform with the option of running electricity. Electricity on the platform stays offline until we interact with it, same as before, just lure Murto to stand or pass on the platform, and then we can use the gadget to turn on the electricity, and you will remove the last remaining HP bar out of Murto’s life, leaving him completely defenceless.
It’s all about gameplay freedom; you don’t have to carry out the environmental object damage in a sequence. It can be done in any order without any consequences.
Tips for Defeating Murto
Here are some helpful tips in dealing with Murto.
- Your Q-Watch will run out of energy, but don’t worry, you will find many batteries lying around in the boss’s room, just grab them to recharge your watch.
- If you do get caught in his line of fire, then get out of the spot and go somewhere far away to recover HP. It did happen to me many times, especially in the first phase, where I had no clue that the fight was a stealth fight.
- You will also find Flood Lights or panel lying on the wall with intense lights installed on its surface. When Murto passes by the panel, you can trigger the Flood Lights to blind Murto, which will take out a single chunk of his HP. It’s another way to take out his HP bar.
- Always stick to cover, leaving him blind about your location. Once he gets wind of your location, he will come sprinting in with a gun, pointing at your face.
