Welcome Leon! We figured to change things up this time, and have the party actually happen, instead of becoming a backdrop for yet another world-threatening Umbrella virus outbreak. They even managed to keep the banner hanging this time around.
Today’s Resident Evil celebration in question was an event to celebrate the 7 million sales mark for Resident Evil Requiem, which made it the fastest-selling Resident Evil game to date.
Traditionally, Resident Evil titles take a while to sell and end up gathering sales through the course of time rather than breaking all records right off the bat. For comparison, the quickest game in the franchise to reach the 7 million milestone was the remake of Resident Evil 4 (2023), and that took 12 months and 1 week.
Resident Evil Requiem sold 5 million copies in less than a week of its release in February, keeping up the launch momentum to break internal records for Capcom. The latest milestone, selling 7 million copies in under two months, is a franchise first.
Party Like It’s Raccoon City

The party was filled with cool-looking cakes that were Leon and Grace-themed to match the occasion. We could see the event from Koshi Nakanishi’s Instagram stories, just to stoke that fomo.

The celebration was also filled with famous guests, with the likes of The Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley among them. Many wondered what he could have been doing there. Keighley was also the one who was hosting the “after-party bingo,” according to the stories shared. The running suggestion is that this could lead to a planned reveal at June’s Summer Game Fest, which Capcom regularly supports.
Could a DLC of Requiem be on its way this soon? Capcom has spoken about its plans to release more content for the bone-chilling game, saying that there will be “ongoing support and additional game content, so players can continue to enjoy the title longer”. Nothing has been confirmed, but it is enough to daze about and be scared of until the announcement comes through.
