7 Best Slay the Spire Mods Everyone Should Install

Slay the Spire is a game that needs no introduction, as its timeless gameplay and reputation within deckbuilding and the roguelike are omnipresent to this day.

Slay the Spire 2 is fast approaching, aiming to build on the foundation of deeper mechanics and even built-in 4-player co-op.

For players who can’t wait to get their hands on more content, now is the best time to dive into the best Slay the Spire mods. The Steam Workshop is a treasure trove of add-ons that will make the game feel limitless, even for veteran Ascension players.

    Minty Spire

    Make life easier

    Minty Spire(Gk) Erasels

Minty Spire is a quality-of-life compilation mod that enhances tedious tasks from the base game without adding new content.

This is a seamless mod with features like highlighting relics when their effect is about to proc (relics like Pantograph, Tiny Chest, Dream Catcher, and Regal Pillow), the Perfected Strike card displaying the amount of Strikes, and displaying the total amount of incoming damage from multiple monsters or multi-hit attacks.

This is the best Slay the Spire mod if you want to stick with the vanilla experience but need a bit of polish. Don’t worry, you can download the Achievement Enabler mod as well, so you’re not missing out on anything.

    6.

    Hubris

    Relic Mayhem

Hubris is the popular mod for the Slay the Spire enhanced vanilla experience. It adds a few cards, events, bosses, and custom run modifiers, but its main additions are its 50+ relics.

These relics range from simple additions like a Slimy Hat that raises maximum hand size to an active item that lets you retain your whole hand once per combat.

The Astral Hammer relic reduces an attack by 1 energy for the rest of the combat, making it perfect for Ironclad’s high-cost cards. Some of the relics also grant a huge power spike for an interesting negative, like the Cracked Hourglass giving more energy but outright ends your run if you take too long in each battle.

    Together in Spire

    Coop fun

Why wait for the upcoming coop feature in the sequel when you can play it right now? Together in Spire lets you ascend the spire with up to 10 players and makes it effortless to do so. This Slay the Spire coop mod also comes with unique features to interact with your companions, like trading, reviving, skins, multiplayer achievements, and game save support.

Go beyond the base experience, as Together in Spire even lets your team adventure go through modded campaigns. For those who experienced the Slay the Spire board game, they know that adding more players doesn’t trivialize gameplay; it adds a new layer of complexity.

Instead of thinking of yourself, you’ll need to coordinate turns and share resources. Runs will either go smoothly and deepen the bonds, or they will descend into chaos as everyone starts berating each other for the most trivial reasons.

    Acts of Hallownest

    Descend into Hallownest Again

    Acts of HallownestVenIM

Acts of Hallownest is the most ambitious Act mod for Slay the Spire. This mod reimagines the entire campaign of one of the most influential modern metroidvanias, replacing the three acts with Greenpath, City of Tears, and Kingdom’s Edge.

It’s a familiar experience as it brings Hollow Knight’s enemies, bosses, lore-friendly events, and just the right amount of Zote.

Ari Gibson’s original art is brought to life with animated sprites with beautiful backgrounds, accompanied by the game’s melancholic soundtrack. It feels like cheating to say that one of the best Slay the Spire mods just has you re-experience Hollow Knight in a different genre.

    3.

    Infinite Spire

    Go Endless

    Infinite SpireBlank The Evil

Ever built a great deck and wish you could continue playing past the final boss like Balatro? Infinite Spire lets you test the limits by allowing you to climb past the third act.

While looping indefinitely is the main charm of the mod, it’s the progression and post-game content that make it more than a simple victory lap.

The mod also comes with new content like quests, relics, cards, events, and bosses to add variation to every loop. This is the best Slay the Spire mod to support players who are ready for those extremely long runs.

    2.

    Packmaster

    Infinite Archetypes, One Character

    The Packmaster(Gk) Erasels

Slay the Spire may be a flawless deckbuilder, but it doesn’t quite scratch the addiction of a proper draft mode like Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone.

There’s nothing like ripping open a fresh pack of physical or virtual booster packs, then slapping together a barely functioning deck for a tournament.

The Packmaster Slay the Spire mod enables you to draft on every run by introducing themed card packs. These packs act like curated archetypes that shape the pool of cards available during every run. There’s no point in hunting for particular synergies like the base game; you’ll have to improvise in every reward screen.

Packmaster is much more than a playable character mod for Slay the Spire. It acts as a platform for collaboration for the game’s modding community.

Every pack is a labor of love from many different contributors, swelling to as many as 800+ new cards, relics, and potions, all for one character. And that’s not even mentioning that completing a run with a pack unlocks a custom hat.

    Downfall

    Massive content expansion

    Downfall Expansion ModMichael Mayhem

Downfall is the definitive best mod for Slay the Spire, a massive unofficial expansion for the base game that even MegaCrit themselves commended.

The name refers to the new alternate mode, where you play as one of the seven bosses. Much like how Hades 2 flips the script, you’ll descend the spire and eventually challenge the playable cast themselves.

Speaking of new characters, Downfall introduces the Hermit, a gunslinger whose gimmick involves bonus effects for cards in the middle of the hand. Add this to the already stacked list of items, events, and daily custom runs, and it’s no wonder why Downfall is a top mod for Slay the Spire.
