The Outer Worlds 2: Side With Alva or Svoboda?

Choices are important in The Outer Worlds 2, and during the “Beginning of the End” quest, you’ll be faced with a choice that will have consequences. A Zyranium bomb was dropped on Auntie’s Choice territory from the Zyranium Manufactory VII, and your job is to find evidence and figure out who lauched the bomb – Initiate Alva or Proctor Svoboda? In this guide, we’ll walk you through the consequences of choosing both parties, and the one you should choose for the best outcome in The Outer Worlds 2.

What Happens if You Side With Alva in The Outer Worlds 2?

If you choose to side with Alva, she’ll kill Proctor Svoboda and you’ll gain her as a Companion. Later on, she’ll reveal her real name to you, which is Marisol Delgado, and you’ll find the Toxic Effluvium Repository, accessible through Svoboda’s private terminal. This further confirms that Svoboda was guilty. Apart from this, a conversation later will also confirm Alva’s innocence in The Outer Worlds 2.

Before you decide on siding with her, you need to do a few things. First, when you enter the Zyranium Manufactory VII, Proctor Svoboda will ask you to stop Initiate Alva, who has locked herself into the control room following her allegation. She’ll give you the green light to kill her if needed. On the other hand, when you speak with Alva next, she’ll blame the Zyranium bomb’s launch on Proctor Svobodoa, leading to a dilemma.

Interacting with Alva starts the “Beginning at the Endpoint” quest. Search the dead bodies, the Records Repository, Central Processing, and Refinement Logistics inside the factory for more evidence. However, from the evidence, it’s still hard to figure out who’s telling the truth. To join Alva’s side, pick  “I say we force the Proctor to reveal who she’s working with” or “So do I. And I haven’t seen enough proof […],” which will result in Alva killing Svoboda.

If you choose to side with Proctor Svoboda, she’ll take you to the Toxic Effluvium Repository and show you the “culprit’s” room. However, later in the game, you’ll find out that Svoboda was the one who ordered the launch of the Zyranium bomb. Unlike Alva, you don’t gain a new Companion here.

However, if you still want to side with Procotor Svoboda, pick “Enough lies! I’m not buying any of this, “Marisol”. This will trigger a tough boss fight with Initiate Alva/Marisol, and you have to kill her. Picking Svoboda’s side grants no additional rewards, so it is recommended to avoid doing that.

Best Choice: Pick Initiate Alva/Marisol’s side, since she’s innocent and you’ll gain her as a Companion. This is a much better choice as you then get to unlock all 6 companions in Outer Worlds 2. Proctor Svoboda is the real culprit, so if you’re someone who likes to see justice served, side with Alva/Marisol.

That’s all you need to know about choosing Alva or Svoboda in The Outer Worlds 2. If you’re roleplaying as a villain, picking Proctor Svoboda may seem like the right deicision, but picking Alva will ensure you don’t miss out on anything the RPG has to offer.
