How to Get Rune Rage in Silksong

Rune Rage is one of the best Silk Skills you can get in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The Kingdom of Pharloom is home to a plethora of Silk Skills, and while some of them may be on your path, others might be hidden. Some of them are even locked behind defeating tough bosses, much like the Rune Rage itself. This guide will help you locate and get the Rune Rage skill in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

The Rune Rage skill is obtained by defeating the First Sinner boss at The Slab in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Begin your journey at the location on the map above. This area will be just beside Mount Fay, where the entrance to The Slab is located. There will be a Bench here as well, so save your checkpoint by resting on it after you reach here.

From the Bench, go left and climb the platform on the left wall, using your Cling Grip ability. You’ll find multiple platforms on top of each other here. Continue climbing up by using your traversal abilities and the platforms to locate an opening in the ceiling. This is the entrance to the next area, where you must progress.

Inside the next area, turn right and continue forward until the far end. Here, you’ll find another opening above which leads to the door with the Apostate Lock. You need to use the Apostate Key here to unlock the door ahead, then enter the next area.

Through the door with the Apostate Lock, drop down and enter the next area to the right. You’ll come across a dark room with a bird cage. Inside the room, up above the cage, there will be an opening in the ceiling, which offers an entrance to the next area.

Once you’re on the other side of the opening, turn right and go down the dark path to the next area. In the next area, keep going right and drop down. Continue right, and using the platforms below, drop down until you find a giant door that is locked by some chains.

To unlock this door, all you have to do is break the chains that are located beside the door. There will be four chains: one at the top left, one at the top right, one on the direct right, and one at the bottom left underneath the platform. Break the chains to open the door, which will take you to a completely new area inside The Slab.

Once you’re inside the new area, you’ll be given the option to Bind, which will trigger the First Sinner boss fight. The First Sinner has a large health pool, with two additional phases, and is all about teleportation, so be careful while you’re fighting this challenging boss. Once you’ve defeated the boss, you’ll be transported to a new area.

In the next area, keep climbing up using your Cling Grip ability from wall to wall, go through an opening at the top, then head left.

Continue left, and you’ll come across another large area, where you can climb up. Use Cling Grip to climb up, and you’ll find another similar opening at the top. Once you’ve entered the opening above, turn right and continue forward.

Keep going right, use your Drifter’s Cloak ability to glide across the platform to the one on the right, where you’ll encounter a dark hallway. Through the hallway, to the right at the far end, you’ll find the Rune Rage Silk Skill. Pick it up, which will automatically trigger a cutscene, and you’ll obtain this Silk Skill to your collection.

The Rune Rage ability causes fiery explosions around a specific area that will be marked by a set of circles. This is particularly useful for large-sized and slow-moving bosses, and for destroying mobs. The Rune Rage ability also works well when fighting in smaller spaces, as it increases the chances of the AOE explosion hitting your enemies.

That’s all you have to do to find the Rune Rage skill in Hollow Knight: Silksong. For more comprehensive guides on other Silk Skills, check out the ones on Silk Soar and Silkspear.
