In the late game phase for Hollow Knight: Silksong, you will encounter a locked door at the Slab requiring an item related to Apostate. Like you would have figured out by now (especially if you have collected the Simple Key earlier), the key for this door is tucked away in a different direction and requires more than a few hops to reach.
Where to Find the Key of Apostate in Hollow Knight: Silksong?
You need to head north of Bilewater to find the Key of Apostate in the game. From the Bench located at the north of Bilewater, take the route to the left and start moving up. Hit the green orb on the right to propel yourself to the upper level.
Here you will arrive on a wooden platform. Now use the wall on the top to jump to the upper level. Don’t go left, again use the wall on the top to jump to the platform above. You will see a wooden scaffolding on the left. Jump on it to get to the platform on the left. Now take the route left and keep marching in the direction until you reach the end of the route.
At the end, you will find the Key of Apostate inside the bird cage. Break the cage on the ground to release the key. Interact with the Key of Apostate key to grab it.
Where to Use the Key of Apostate in Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Travel to the Slab Bellways to get to the door that requires the Key of Apostate. From the Bench, move left and get to the area above. Now move right and jump on the platform above, and you will find a keyhole next to the door. When you interact with the keyhole, it requires the Key of Apostate. This is just one of the three keys required to open several doors in the Slab area; the other two keys are the Key of Heretic and the Key of Indolent.
You can also use the Key of Apostate to open up another door in the Slab, located at the north side of the area. Finishing the platforming inside the room will take you to a Mask Shard at the top.
With this one, you can now open the door to the Apostate. All exploration pays off in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and can even land you a precious 2nd upgrade for Needle, which makes taking down the several tough bosses in the game that much more manageable.
