In what could potentially be a very interesting development; Ratings Board PEGI (Pan European Game Information) has rated Hi-Fi Rush for Nintendo Switch. There have been persistent rumours about the game release on Switch, with some recent ones claiming that it could possibly be launched on Switch 2. PEGI has rated the game as PEGI 12 on account of it featuring moderate violence and use of bad language.
Hi-Fi Rush was a hit on Xbox and PC when it was first launched on Jan 25, 2023 and was finally ported to PS5 on Mar 19, 2024. The PS5 port was a very well executed one with the game being received just as well as when it was first launched. This gives confidence and hope that the eventual Switch port, if and when it happens will be a good one – and that is a great thing since Switch users have not had the best experience when it comes to porting console games – one only needs to look at how MK1 landed for this. Update: There is currently no news on a Switch or a Switch 2 port happening for Hi-Fi Rush. While the game continues to be rated and re-rated for Switch – there was another one that happened early this year, but, like before, nothing else has happened since then that would indicate things moving ahead.
Especially keeping in mind that there have been several prestige projects, and ports announced for Switch 2 through the year, the specific absence of any news on this front does make it feel like the project is on the back burner a bit. For example, there was a Nintendo Direct that concluded just last week, and while it did contain announcements for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, MH Wilds, FF 7 Revelation, Cairn, and several others, nothing came out for Hi-Fi Rush.
The other update since we put up this news was Krafton taking over Tango Gameworks and the publishing rights to Hi-Fi Rush from Bethesda, following Bethesda’s closure announcement for the studio and 3 others in May 2024.
