Reading books is the last thing you want to do in a video game, but in Persona 5, reading any book can give you a social stat bonus. Once you have the book in your inventory, you can check the activities menu to get the reading option. If you want to read a book in a quieter area, then head to your home and sit on the couch to get the reading option. But you can only read a single book per day. Reading books can help you gain Knowledge, Proficiency, Guts, Kindness, and Charm. Here is a quick look at what they do and where else you can gain these stats in the game.
- Knowledge: Heading to school can help you gain Knowledge. Another good place to gain knowledge would be to study at the Library. It is better to save this book for reading last.
- Proficiency: You will get Proficiency from crafting, playing games at home. You can also get Proficiency by reading a book.
- Guts: Allows you to unlock new synergy ranks with new cosmetic items. You can also gain Guts by hitting the Gym, watching movies, or reflecting on battles on the train.
- Charm: Prioritize reading books that offer Charm social stats, as it will help you select better dialogue options and take part in more events. You can take part in activities such as cooking or working at the Convenience store to gain a good amount of Charm.
- Kindness: You can also get the Kindness stat from growing plants, gardening, or cleaning the house. Reading a book about Kindness also offers a way to learn Kindness if you don’t have the green thumb or don’t want to clean your room.
