Starting May 1, prepare for a price hike on all Xbox products, both hardware and software. Xbox just raised the price on all of its hardware lineup, which includes Controllers and Headsets. The price hike has also broken into the games as well, any first-party Xbox games will now cost $80 on all storefronts. Here is what we know so far about the price increase:

    • Xbox Console X/S – The price of Xbox Series S will go from $300 to $380. An $80 price hike from its previous cost. The 1TB Series S will sell for $430 instead of $350.
    • Xbox Console X will now cost $600, the 2TB variant will now cost $730.
    • Xbox Controller will now retail for a $65 to $90 price range. The Elite series Controller will go up for $200.
    • Xbox Wireless Headsets will now go for $120 in the US and Canada.

The biggest hit appears to be at the Consoles, while other hardware, such as Headsets and Controllers, have received a $10 to $30 price hike; the Consoles, on the other hand, received a massive $80 to $100 increase. And the Xbox is rhyming the Nintendo tune by increasing its first-party game cost to $80 from $70.

Xbox released a statement regarding the sudden price hike on all of their products:

“We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players.“

The next line of Xbox games starting from the 2025 Holiday will see a price increase of $80. We might see more people jumping into the Game Pass instead of paying the full retail price for games. Any new games coming to Xbox at the beginning of this holiday season will have the $80 price tag attached to them. The price makeover will not apply to the already existing games.
