How Does The Cauldron Work In R.E.P.O.?

R.E.P.O is a horror multiplayer game with comedic undertones as you try to navigate past monsters to collect all the high value loot within the level. During your exploration of Swiftbroom Academy, you might come across a strange cauldron with an unknown substance bubbling inside. If you are wondering what this cauldron does in R.E.P.O, we are here to explain it to you.

The Cauldron is an intriguing addition to the Swiftbroom Academy level in R.E.P.O. Like most items within each level, the cauldron can be interacted with if a player wishes to. The only thing you can get out of jumping into the cauldron is that you will be launched up into the air after a 5-second time limit. The most you can do with the cauldron is to use it as a launching device to reach places that are tougher to get to. Or you can use it to evade monsters who are out to get you if you are having a hard time trying to get away. The best part about using the cauldron is that you don’t take any damage after landing, so you can use it as many times as you want to get yourself up in the air.

You can also dunk your friends inside for comedic effect and watch them get ejected from the cauldron. But the cauldron has another important use, and that is to trap the Apex Predator, aka the Duck, within the green goo and watch it explode. Usually, the Duck will follow you around, which can be super annoying as you can’t really pick it up without enraging it. Try to lure the Duck to fall into the cauldron by running around the cauldron till the duck automatically hops into the green sludge. The monster will get trapped and launched into the air after a few seconds, but it will take some damage and get stunned. You can then pick it up and toss it back into the cauldron to kill it.

What Else Does the Cauldron Do?

Besides trying to kill the Duck and toss your friends into the air, there isn’t any other use for the cauldron. You can place items inside it and watch it get thrown up, but this can destroy or damage the item in the process. If you are looking for a shortcut to get up to high to reach spaces or evade monsters, then interacting with the cauldron is the way to go. The cauldron spawns at random around the Swiftbroom Academy map, so you won’t always find it in the same place during your next playthrough.

The cauldron isn’t the only mechanic that can confuse players in R.E.P.O, as you might need to learn how to save game and create a lobby if you wish to enhance your gameplay experience.
