Deciding an ending that suits your character and the fate of the world that you are trying to save can be a difficult step to make. Dragon Age: The Veilguard throws many choices that determine the fate of the world, one of the major decisions comes at the end where you are left with the option to fight, trick, or save Solas at the end of the game. Each decision will play out differently, here is a guide to help you know all the details if you decide to Fight, Trick, Or Save Solas in the Veilguard.
Fight, Trick Or Save Solas In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Here we need to choose one out of three options for the ending. The article will contain heavy spoilers for the ending of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Prompt | Ending | Result |
“Let’s try this your way.” | Trick Ending | Here you trick Solas by using the fake dagger. |
“But I want to fight you.” | Fight Ending | The fight immediately breaks out against Solas, and then you will use the Veil to bind him. |
You don’t have to do this.” | Save Ending | Use the item Mythal’s Essence to persuade and stop Solas at the end. |
First Choice: Fight Solas
Ending Type: Bad Ending
Crackle your knuckles, it’s time to face off the elf-god for the last time. Here you have to choose “But I want to fight you.”
Once the dust has settled, Solas is defeated, Rook will then take the dagger and plunge directly into Solas binding him to the veil for eternity. It is a rushed decision, but it is far away from the perfect end, here everything comes to a stoppage.
Note: Make sure to have companions with Heros of Veilguard Status if you decide to go on one with Solas or if you are going to have a rough time.
Second Choice: Trick Solas
Ending Type: Neutral Ending
Here you must select the “Let’s try this your way.” option to trick Solas by using the fake Lyrium dagger. Making the God of Lies use a fake dagger to trap him is a trickery worth celebrating. Unlike the Fight ending where we forcibly use the dagger to bind him, here it happens without our hands getting dirty.
Both in Fight and Trick Ending, we see Solas binding to the Veil but without seeing the error of his ways, this gets resolved in the Save ending.
Third Choice: Save Solas
Ending Type: Good Ending
Requirement: Mythal’s Essence
If you have the Mythal’s Essence, you can select “You don’t have to do this.”. Here you will see the Morrigan and Inquisitor appearing then we will see Mythal releasing Solas from her service. And then Solas repents for all the crimes he has inflicted on the world by willingly binding himself to the Veil.
In this ending we save Solas but we will need an item called Mythal’s Essence. You will get this item once you complete the Regrets of Dread Wolf quest. There is another layer of side quest involved in achieving this ending, We have an in-depth guide on all the steps that you must follow to activate the secret ending to Veilguard.
We recommend you go through all the steps to acquire Mythal’s Essence to Save Solas instead of fighting him. The good ending does take time but the reward and seeing all of your companions alive will be worth the journey.
