Throne and Liberty has tons of activities to do while exploring the vast world, and like any good MMORPG, one of them is fishing. Learning how to fish not only helps you reel in fish for cooking certain dishes, but you can also find some rare and exquisite items while searching the waters.
While you do get a basic fishing rod, later in the game you can upgrade it to increase your chances of netting even better rewards. In this guide, we have focused on how to upgrade your fishing rod in Throne and Liberty, as well as all the upgrade stages of the fishing rod and the materials required for it.
All Fishing Rod Upgrades Explained In Throne And Liberty
There are 9 fishing rod upgrades in Throne and Liberty, not including the basic fishing rod which is the Bamboo Fishing Rod. We are going to cover all upgrades and how to get them below:
Bamboo Fishing Rod
You can claim the Bamboo Fishing Rod on completing the Adventures of the Expedition Appendix Codex Quest, where you are tasked with starting an Amitoi Expedition. You can also purchase the Bamboo Fishing Rod from the Contract Coin Merchant.
Steel Fishing Rod
After acquiring the Bamboo Fishing Rod, you can then use it as one of the crafting components for the Steel Fishing Rod. For the Steel Fishing Rod, you require the following materials.
- Bamboo Fishing Rod *1.
- Nature’s Jade *10.
- Quality Mystwood *30.
- Quality Manasteel *30.
Take all the materials to the Sundries Crafter in Stoneguard Castle and hand it over to the vendor to get the Steel Fishing Rod
Monster Bone Fishing Rod
You have to get the Steel Fishing Rod before you can craft the Monster Bone Fishing Rod. Use that in conjunction with the following resources to craft this fishing rod.
- Steel Fishing Rod *1.
- Nature’s Jade *30.
- Rare Mystwood *30.
- Rare Manasteel *30.
Obsidian Fishing Rod
The next upgrade you can get is the Obsidian Fishing Rod, which you can get after crafting the Monster Bone Fishing Rod and acquiring more resources.
- Monster Bone Fishing Rod *1.
- Nature’s Jade *60.
- Obsidian Piece *30.
- Rare Manasteel *30.
Tevent Fishing Rod
While you don’t require any prior fishing rod as a crafting component for the Tevent Fishing Rod, you will require something more exquisite. For the Tevent Fishing Rod, you need to fight Archbosses: Tevent and get Tevent’s Soul Fragment as a drop. The enemies spawn once every week, and are found in both PvP and PvE. Besides Tevent’s Soul Fragment, you will also need the following materials to craft the Tevent Fishing Rod.
- Tevent’s Soul Fragment *1.
- Nature’s Jade *100.
- Precious Mystwood *30.
- Precious Manasteel *30.
Whisperion Fishing Rod
It is unknown if this fishing rod can be crafted, but you are better off sending your Amitoi on expeditions around certain locations and obtaining Expedition Pouches to get it as a drop. Keep in mind that getting the Whisperion Fishing Rod from the Expedition Pouches depends on RNG, so you have to send your Amitoi on several runs and collect pouches before you can get it. Below are the expedition pouches that may contain the Whisperion Fishing Rod.
- Quietis’s Demesne Expedition Pouch.
- Forest of the Great Tree Expedition Pouch.
- Swamp of Silence Expedition Pouch.
- Black Anvil Forge Expedition Pouch.
Gold Fishing Rod
Another fishing rod that you are better off finding within Abyss Contract Reward Pouches and Mystic Portals is the Gold Fishing Rod. You can also send your Amitoi on expeditions around Daybreak Shore and collect Daybreak Shore Expedition Pouches for a chance to obtain the Gold Fishing Rod.
Platinum Fishing Rod
Now it gets a bit tricky to get the higher level fishing rods. The Platinum Fishing Rod will require a bit of a gamble to unlock it. The only way to get the Platinum Fishing Rod is to explore Mystic Portals. You can unlock a Mystic Portal after obtaining a Mystic Key from the Contract Coin Merchant. Use the Keys to unlock Mystic Globes found at certain locations. This will uncover a Mystic Portal, and you can explore it to get rewards such as the Platinum Fishing Rod.
Kraken Fishing Rod
The only way to get the Kraken Fishing Rod is to send your Amitoi on expeditions. Just like the Gold Fishing Rod, you can find the Kraken Fishing Rod from the Daybreak Shore Expedition Pouches. This is entirely dependent on RNG, and it doesn’t matter if you send your Amitoi out for a 1 hour or an 8 hour expedition. This method will require a lot of grinding, so be prepared for that.
Deluzhnoa Fishing Rod
The final fishing rod upgrade is the Deluzhnoa Fishing Rod. For this upgrade, you need to participate in Conquest battles with your guild. Participating in the event gives you a random chance to get the Conquest Participation Award: Deluzhnoa. The Deluzhnoa Fishing Rod is not a fixed reward, so you might have to take part several times in the Conquest event and get more Deluzhnoa awards to get the Deluzhnoa Fishing Rod.
