If your objective in Throne & Liberty is not to engage in hefty combat, then fishing is one of the best in-game life skills that you can immerse in. Moreover, it will also help you maximize your cooking stats. Here is all you need to know about how to fish in Throne & Liberty.

How To Unlock Fishing In Throne & Liberty

To unlock the fishing mini-game, you will have to first get your hands on a fishing rod. You would want to start your journey with a Bamboo Fishing Rod since that is the easiest to get. To do so, you have two options:

    • Head over to the Contract Coin Merchant and talk to the NPC on the opposite side of the street. This will get you the Bamboo Fishing Rod for free instead of having to buy for a hefty 300 Contract Coins from the Merchant.
    • Another option to get the fishing rod for free is by completing the first Amitoi Adventures of the Expedition quest in Chapter 3.

The Bamboo Fishing Rod cannot be upgraded and hence I recommend to find better fishing rods once you get used to fishing. Here are the other rods that you can choose from:

    • Steel Fishing Rod
    • Monster Bone Fishing Rod
    • Tevent Fishing Rod

Step 1: Now that you have unlocked fishing by getting a fishing rod, the next step is to get fishing bait. Paste Bait is your best bet, and you can buy a box of 50 Fishing Bait from Contract Coin Merchant for 30 Contract Coins. You can only buy one box per day.

Step 2: Equip your fishing rod and bait by heading over to the Character section of the menu (tap the P key).

Step 3: Make your way to the coastline of your area and take out the fishing rod. Once a blue highlighted area appears in front of your character, press F to cast your fishing line.

Note: If the area appears red, it means that the spot is unsuitable for fishing.

Step 4: Once a fish takes the bait, two stamina bars (the green one will be yours and the orange one is of the fish’s) will appear. Since the fish will attempt to swim away, you will have to pull in the opposite direction.

Note: You will be able to catch the fish only when its stamina is completely depleted. If your stamina reaches zero first, then the fish will escape.

It will take a couple of tries to catch your first fish successfully. However, instead of fish you might end up catching Sacks instead. Here are some of the items that you can retrieve from the Sacks:

    • Crafting Materials for upgraded Fishing Rods
    • Archboss Material Fragments
    • Trait Unlockstone
    • Sollant

To improve your life skills in Throne & Liberty, it is advisable to start fishing. You can cook different fishes to gain different buffs which will then help you win difficult fights in Throne & Liberty. Meanwhile, do check out our guides on the game like the one here on the Little Friend In The Sky quest, or the weapons tier list in Throne & Liberty.
