Pragmata Development Reached Its Final Milestone Six Years After Announcement

I still remember the good old days of 2020. Well, more old days than good, but that was a long time ago. One of the gaming industry’s big reveals, while most of us were bunkered down waiting for things to get better, was the announcement of Pragmata by Capcom.

Having to wait a year or two between announcement and release has become a fairly common practice, but Pragmata stretched that into six long years. At many points, it was widely believed that the game was too far gone into dev hell to ever see the light of day.

Today, that is officially a thing of the past, as Capcom has finally reached the last big milestone before Pragmata comes out.

In a social media post, the official Pragmata account has announced that the game has gone gold at long last.

To honour the milestone, Capcom has also included the traditional team photo, augmented with adorable drawings of protagonists Hugh, Diana, and other characters featured in Pragmata.

Judging by the overwhelmingly positive reception to the demo, Team Pragmata’s delayed masterpiece is bound to set the world alight. Such is the confidence in the product that, after making the demo available, director Cho Yonghee has doubled down by asking all players to give the preview a go. That invitation includes players who are already set to buy the game, proof that Cho and his team have no fears of people being turned off by the hands-on experience.

The faith in Pragmata doesn’t extend just to the demo. Earlier this month, the studio took advantage of the Capcom Spotlight broadcast to announce that the game’s release date was being moved sooner by a week.

Pragmata is now set to come out on April 17th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, in a week that will be extremely busy for gamers.

The day before Pragmata, the doors will also open for Lovecraftian horror title Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, Troy Baker’s Mouse: P.I. for Hire, and Nintendo’s cosy Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. All four games scratch fairly different itches, but I pity the wallet of anyone who wants to play all of them right away.
