Pokémon Pokopia DLC Gets Release Date

Nintendo has just revealed that Pokémon Pokopia is releasing its first DLC next week. Following the good traditions of a bunch of Pokémon games to learn surf or a swimming ability to cross any body of water, the player will now learn how to dive in the Bubbly Basin DLC.

The expansion is oriented towards water-type Pokémon, and following the blueprint of the base game of Pokopia, the player sets out with their Ditto-turned-human to bring a destroyed town to its former glory, or at least do everything possible to revive it. The Bubbly Basin DLC will follow the same mechanics, only with a cutesy water theme.

The town in question, as far as we know and have been generously shown in trailers, caused something for it to sink underwater, which will leave the player to discover. The DLC will start with learning the ability Dive from a cute Manaphy (which will be unlocked with the DLC on launch date). Now water-filled areas which have been off limits in the game until now will be ready for the players to enjoy and explore.

The Pokopia DLC will be available for purchase with the Pokopia Expansion Pass, which is set to give 3 waves of content, and we’re just getting started with the water-type DLC called Bubbly Basin DLC. By buying the expansion DLC, Pokémon lovers were also able to get the dynamic Ditto print recipe as a small gift.

Bubbly Basin DLC comes to Switch 2 users on August 5, being the first drop in the three waves of the Pokopia Expansion Pass, differing from the monthly updates the game has been gaining since launch.

Sadly, the world of Pokopia is only available for Switch 2 players instead of following the tradition of slowly handing over from one console to another. As a Switch 2 exclusive, Pokémon Pokopia is Nintendo’s best bet to lure players out to buy a whole new console, at least until a new Animal Crossing title comes out.

The second DLC of Pokopia will be available by the end of the year, which will feature adding accessories that you can dress up your Pokemon in, while the final wave of the DLC will be coming out some time in 2027, which should be enough to keep the hype up for Pokémon Wind and Waves, releasing that same year.
