A new trailer for Palworld by developers PocketPair has teased 4 new pals, along with the promise of others, to debut sometime in summer.
The trailer shows off a bird Pal, a frog Pal, a squirrely Pal and a mushroom Pal and how they can assist the player in combat. All look suitably cool and are a promising addition to the list of Pals available in the game. The trailer also showed couple of possibly new weapons including a flamethrower. Palworld released in Jan 19 this year on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview and took the gaming world by storm, and had the developer scampering around to increase server capacity – eclipsing numbers that AAA games would love to reach on Steam – at one point the game had 2 million concurrent players on Steam.
Update: The Sakurajima update was launched on Jun 27, 2024, and the Feybreak update was launched on Dec 23, 2024. Both these expansions launched new islands, new activities, and, of course, new pals. Both the launches saw spikes in the active player count, with numbers reaching 143k in June, and 212k in December of 2025 respectively. In between, developers continued tie ups with other brands and games, including one with Tides of Terraria, and another with Once Human.
The game also saw a PS5 launch on Sep 25, 2024; with crossplay introduced in the 0.5 update in March of the following year. The big development, was, of course, the full 1.0 release in July 10; after spending almost 2 years in development – a practice that has helped other games like Hades 2, Manor Lords to sharpen up and refine their final product before making it available.
By Feb 2025, the game had seen sales of 12 million units on PC, and 7 million on Xbox. Of course, it won’t be fair to close this update without the mention of the Nintendo lawsuit – which has a next hearing scheduled next month (Oct 2026), though, if experts are to be believed, the case from Nintendo is on weak grounds.
