Over 10 Million Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Units Have Been Sold

The Monster Hunter series is a gift that keeps on giving for Capcom, after breaking expectations, now we have reports showing it has sold over 10 million units. The game appeared on all stores on June 30, 2022. It took the Sunbreak only three years to pull such an astounding sales number. Compared to the other iconic titles of Capcom, the Monster Hunter series has been breaking the records for the company for a long time.

The most amazing piece of news here is that Subreak is an expansion to the Monster Hunter Rise, released back in 2021. Most of the success of the game can be linked to good decisions by Capcom. One of the most game-changing features Capcom added to the series is the free title updates, and bringing all the titles to multiple platforms certainly helped elevate the status and reach of the game to a newer audience who have never tried the franchise before.

The upcoming surge of a new player base certainly left a huge impact on the series and how it is perceived in the gaming market today. If you look at the official chart of best-selling games of Capcom, the top two on the list are taken by Monster Hunter: World and Rise. Both reportedly sold over 10 million copies. The rest of the list also covers other Monster Hunter entries.

All of this shows us that Monster Hunter is no longer a niche product of Capcom, while Resident Evil or Devil May Cry get the attention of many fans, Monster Hunter sure has created its own player base, surpassing the iconic titles of Capcom. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak holds an 86 rating on Metacritic and a Very Positive reception on Steam.
