A good five years have passed since the last time we saw anything related to the James Bond game. IO Interactive, the brains behind the Hitman series, have announced the reveal of their brand new James Bond 007 game this week. Amazing news for the fans of Goldeneye and for the people who were waiting for a proper sequel since the 2012 James Bond game.

The post on X finally announced the reveal of James Bond by stating “EarnTheNumber in 007 First Light, a new game by IO Interactive. The mission brief is headed your way soon. Stay tuned for more information.”

This was enough to set fire in the gaming community, as we will finally have a true James Bond with all of its adventure in a fancy location filled with stealth and silent murders. And who better to steer the ship than the folks behind the Hitman series, the name infamous for creating fancy murder simulations in grand locations all around the world. IO Interactive have been playing with the stealth game genre for a long time, a series like James Bond will fit perfectly in their hands.

Finally, this week we will see what IO has stored for us; the post on X didn’t reveal too much information. We assume they are saving it for the reveal, probably during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. The last reveal of the game was done in 2020, as accounted in the title “Project 007“. The studio went silent after the reveal and didn’t announce anything related to the Project. But finally, we will get to witness what they have been cooking with the series in the last five years.
