Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising was released in 2023 for PS5 and PC, and has been developed by Arc System Games Cygnus. The 2D fighting game is a sequel to Granblue Fantasy Versus, and it expanded the first game by introducing new combat mechanics as well as the addition of new characters.

The base game had Anila, Nier, Siegfried, and Grimnir as playable characters. Season 1 introduced 2B, Vane, Beatrix, Versusia, Vikala, and Lucilius, and was released in January of 2024.

The game has been received well since launch, and currently sits at a Metacritic score of 81 and a User Score of 7; with the animations, combat systems and character design being praised as highlights. Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising was nominated at the DICE Awards for Fighting Game of the Year, as well as at the Game Awards for The Best Fighting Game.

The announced characters are likely to bring a new life to the game bringing back the old veterans and newcomers to try the game out.
