Cozy games have a special way of hooking us in and giving us exactly what we need when we need it most, and for a lot of us, that’s a relaxing escape from our stressful daily lives.

No matter what’s going on in the world, you can bet that the cozy genre will always be thriving, and 2026 is looking like it’s going to be an especially exciting year for cozy fans.

Whether your ideal brand of cozy is running a farm, owning a small business, or decorating alien planets, 2026 has something for everyone. If you’re looking for titles to add to your wishlist, then you won’t want to miss these highly anticipated cozy games of 2026.

Tailside: Cozy Cafe Sim | Little Woodland Café

    2026 | Coffee Beans Dev | PC

If you’ve ever dreamed of running your own cozy cafe in the woods (and let’s be real, who hasn’t), then you’ll want to keep an eye out for Tailside.

Tailside is a management sim where you play the part of a small cafe owner. Your customers are adorable woodland creatures looking for their next caffeine fix, and your job is to make sure everyone’s needs are filled.

You’ll get to brew coffee, make cute latte foam art, customize your cafe, and welcome an ever-growing community of woodland creatures to your shop. With every successful day that goes by, you’ll unlock more and more customers, some of whom will share interesting stories with you.

Tailside lets you experience all the relaxing parts of owning a small business, without any of the negatives. Nothing beats cafe management sims, especially when they’ve got cute, furry animals in them; if you’re a fan of cozy, cutesy, and comfy, then you’ll love everything about Tailside.

Thrifty Business | Thrift Store Simulator

    2026 | Spellgarden Games | PC

If you were a fan of the popular cozy game Sticky Business, then you’ll probably want to go ahead and add Thrifty Business to your wishlist.

Thrifty Business is a thrift store management game made by the same developers who brought us Sticky Business back in 2023. This game lets you run your own second-hand thrift shop, complete with quirky customers and even quirkier interior design.

Everybody loves a good treasure hunt, but when you’re the one holding all the treasure? Even better.

You get to sort through dozens of used items for valuable pieces to add to your shop, each one with a different story than the last.

You can arrange your pieces in nostalgic displays or just throw them wherever you think people will see them. The layout of your thrift store is completely up to you, so don’t let anyone dull your weird little sparkle if you think it’ll sell more items!

Honestly, I probably would’ve bought Thrifty Business even if Sticky Business’s developers hadn’t been the ones behind it, but now that I know they are? It’s already sitting in my Steam cart.

Moonlight Peaks | Supernatural Farming Sim

    2026 | Little Chicken | PC

Sitting on a Bench in Moonlight Peaks

Moonlight Peaks is the perfect mix of cozy and creepy, perfect for those who aren’t fans of the mainstream cozy genre.

In Moonlight Peaks, you play the part of Count Dracula’s child, determined to step out of your father’s shadow and prove that vampires can live cozy, compassionate lives, too.

But as you settle into the quiet town of Moonlight Peaks, you quickly realize you’re not the only supernatural creature around. Werewolves, witches, mermaids, and even other vampires are all eager to welcome you to their cozy neck of the woods.

When you’re not busy brewing potions or farming magical crops, you can spend as much time with the townsfolk as you want, befriending and even romancing them to your heart’s content.

If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of a spooky, supernatural community while tending to a magical farm, then Moonlight Peaks is going to be right up your alley.

    8.

Hela | Little Mouse, Big World

    2026 | Windup | PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2

Mouse Walking Up to a Barn in Hela
    Image via Windup

Hela feels like the kind of game I would’ve loved as a kid, and even as an adult, I feel a strange attraction to it that has little to do with its actual gameplay.

Hela is a puzzle platformer that puts you in the tiny paws of a mouse on a mission. You are one of the many furry familiars of a kindly old witch who has recently fallen ill, and you must venture out in search of a cure to make her well again.

Going out, finding rare ingredients, and brewing them into healing potions doesn’t sound too rough at first, but the world is no place for an adventurous mouse, and you’ll be dodging danger left and right on more than one occasion.

Thankfully, you’ll be able to invite several players to help via split-screen co-op and online multiplayer, so even if you get stuck, you’ll always have a second set of eyes on the problem.

Hela features a heartwarming story and some of the best puzzles I’ve ever seen in a platformer, but honestly, I’d still buy it just for the chance to be an adorable rodent.

    7.

Gecko Gods | Little Lizard Adventures

    2026 | Inresin | PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch

Lizard Solving an Ancient Puzzle in Gecko Gods
    Image via Inresin

Gecko Gods looks like one of those quiet indie games that’ll change your life after you play it, and I can’t wait for its release in early 2026.

Gecko Gods is a puzzle platformer that combines action with mystery in an ancient, undiscovered world. In this game, you play as a gecko, exploring the ancient ruins of a lost civilisation while you try to piece together what happened to its people.

You’ll have to climb up walls, solve ancient puzzles, and uncover hidden paths that have been buried for thousands of years, all while trying to survive the perils that come with navigating a world made for bigger creatures.

Seeing the world through the perspective of a tiny gecko makes every ruin feel enormous, and every discovery feel earned, turning what would otherwise be simple exploration into something that feels deeply rewarding.

Inspired by games like A Short Hike and Sable, Gecko Gods isn’t some massive experience that’ll take you weeks to finish. Instead, it’s a short, bite-sized piece of cozy heaven that’ll stick with you long after you’ve finished it.

    6.

    Spirit Crossing | Cozy MMORPG

    2026 | Spry Fox | PC, Mobile

Two Friends Celebrating in Winter in Spirit Crossing

Spirit Crossing looks like everything that Animal Crossing: New Horizons should’ve been: a cozy escape to another world with your friends, without a single stressor in sight.

No repetitive dialogue, no soulless NPCs, and no raccoons asking you to pay off your debts; just a cozy social experience that’ll make you wish you’d bought it sooner.

From the creators of Cozy Grove comes Spirit Crossing, a relaxing MMORPG. This game lets you link up with friends and strangers alike in a realm called the Crosslands, a magical place that only exists between the human and spirit worlds.

You’ll get to aid lost spirits, befriend charming animal creatures, and even ride fluffalo as you explore the mystical world around you, participating in worldwide tournaments and seasonal events alike.

Unlike many cozy life sims that focus mainly on solo play, Spirit Crossing leans into its social side, allowing you to build a thriving village alongside other players.

Whether you’re taking part in community-wide missions or just decorating your shared spaces, this social MMORPG has a little something for every kind of friendship, even the ones that only exist online.

    5.

Grave Seasons | Creepy Cozy Sim

2026 | Perfect Garbage | PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

    Harvesting Tomatoes in Grave Seasons

No one can argue that narrative farming sims dominate the cozy genre, but Grave Seasons puts its own creative spin on the classic “plant, farm, repeat” formula.

Grave Seasons is a cozy farming horror game that throws its players into the town of Ashenridge, a sleepy little place that, on the surface, appears to be an idyllic paradise.

The longer you spend there, however, the more you realize something is deeply off. Bodies start turning up like clockwork, with each one in a more grisly condition than the last.

Trying to start your new life as a farmer is hard enough, but it’s nearly impossible with a serial killer on the loose. You’ll have to embed yourself into the community and figure out who the killer is before it’s too late.

The twist? Any ordinary human couldn’t have committed these murders; all of the evidence points to some sort of supernatural creature as the culprit, making your job that much more dangerous.

In between looking for clues and conducting investigations, you’ll be able to tend to your farm, explore the surrounding woods, and even go on dates with the townspeople. But be careful of who you place your trust in; anyone could be the killer, even your new girlfriend or boyfriend.

    4.

    Witchbrook | Hogwarts, But Better

2026 | Chucklefish, Robotality | PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2

    Witch Ritual in Witchbrook
    Image via Chucklefish/Robotality

Witchbrook has been at the top of thousands of wishlists since its announcement back in 2016, and I know I’m not the only one who’s excited to finally play it in 2026.

This spell-binding life-sim invites players to begin a new life as a student witch in the bustling city of Mossport. Magic is woven into the very fabric of this city, so don’t be afraid to add your own magical touch to the scenery once in a while.

Alongside attending classes and working toward graduation, you’ll be able to build friendships, find romance, and explore Mossport’s cobblestone streets on the back of your trusty flying broomstick.

Just like you, your peers and your teachers all lead very productive lives. Every character has their own schedule, so you’ll never know who you’ll bump into on your way into town.

Stumble into your friend studying at the library? Start up a conversation! Catch your teacher chugging a drink down at the pub? Pretend you didn’t and keep walking.

Everything and everyone feels alive in Witchbrook; it’s the perfect cozy game to get yourself lost in in the new year.

    3.

Animula Nook | Honey, I Shrunk the Player

    2026 | LilliLandia Games | PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2

Decorating Your Home in Animula Nook
    Image via LilliLandia Games

We’ve all wished we could shrink ourselves down to the size of ants at least once in our lives, and Animula Nook capitalizes on that irrational desire perfectly.

Animula Nook lets players experience what it would be like if they shrank themselves down and explored their home at a fraction of their size.

Houseplants become jungles, milk cartons become mansions, and even your old work desk feels like it goes on for miles. Even the most mundane objects become catalysts for adventure, turning everyday spaces into playgrounds that let your imagination run wild.

This game is perfect for anyone who struggles to find the fun in everyday life. It puts the childlike wonder back into your daily grind and makes even the most boring tasks feel like whimsical adventures.

If you’re tired of daily missions and quest logs and just want to chill out for 2026, then Animula Nook is the perfect title to add to your wishlist.

    2.

Starsand Island | Cozy Island Paradise

2026 | Seed Lab | PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

If there’s one game I’m most excited for in 2026, it’s Starsand Island.

This game is shaping up to be one of the most whimsical cozy games of 2026, and I can’t wait until we get this cozy adventure in all its glory.

Starsand Island is an open-world RPG that invites players to embrace a peaceful, Chinese-inspired pastoral life in the countryside. You’ll get to build your own dream home, start a thriving farm, befriend adorable animals, and even explore magical ancient ruins in search of adventure.

Your only goal is to become the best villager you can be, enriching the island and its residents with every moment you spend there.

Fishing, farming, foraging, and befriending the locals don’t even cover half of the things you can do in this game, not to mention the romance.

You can get as close as you’d like with multiple characters that you’ll meet along your journey, from high-strung adventurers to beautiful boutique owners.

No matter what your favorite pastime is in cozy games, Starsand Island’s got your back. It’s literally impossible to ever feel bored in this game; I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a good time-waster this year.

Petit Planet | Classic miHoYo Coziness

    2026 | miHoYo | PC, Mobile

    Petit Planet Official Announcement Artwork
    Image via miHoYo

Any game from miHoYo is bound to be a banger, but Petit Planet really looks like it’s going to take the cake as far as cozy games go for this year.

Similar to cozy classics like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the game casts you as a small explorer helping develop a fledgling planet alongside a cast of charming, anthropromorphic coworkers from Loomi Co.

As you complete your daily tasks, socialize with surrounding planets, and nurture your planet’s central tree, you’ll be able to gradually expand your planet with new biomes, rivers, beaches, forests, and more, allowing you to essentially create your very own planetary paradise.

The best part? You’ll get to show off your personalized planet to your neighbors at any time with a single invite, so you can prove to everyone you’re the best at planet building.

If you love hanging out with your friends in the virtual realm and love cozy games even more, then you definitely need to keep an eye out for Petit Planet in 2026.
