When crafting is a big part of a game, you have to collect a variety of materials. If you’re just beginning in Windrose, Bezoar is frustrating to find. It’s not in the early areas, so you need to either blindly explore and hope for the best, or complete quests until you receive the directions you need.
Before you go after Bezoar, it’s a good idea to level up your gear to around Level 5. You may also want to have some bandages, healing potions, and your ship repaired if it needs it. The Bezoar itself won’t be what puts you in danger, but there are other enemies around and you might have to go through some of Blackbeard’s ships that range from Level 5 to Level 10.
Getting Bezoar in Windrose

Bezoar drops from goats, but you have to reach the Foothills to find goats. The difficult part is finding islands that have the Foothills, because the maps in Windrose are procedurally generated.
As a result, you have two options for finding the Foothills:
- First, you can sail around and hope you find the right island for your particular map. Some players report having stumbled on the Foothills easily when they started sailing, and others struggled to find them. Mine ended up being to the far south of where I started, so I would have never found them from just sailing around.
- The second option is to go through your main quests until you receive “Needle in a Haystack.” This quest comes after you defeat the first boss, Thomas Richards. When you return to Doctor Galen, you’ll receive this main quest from him, which marks the Foothills on your map.

With the map markers, you can set sail for the Foothills. Once you arrive, head into the mountains and look for goats, which drop Bezoar.

Regular goats will attack you, but nanny goats will run away. I had better drops for Bezoar from nanny goats, so it’s worth having a ranged weapon and bullets to use on them if you don’t feel like chasing after them.
Using Bezoar in Windrose

Bezoar is an ingredient for alchemy, but it’s specifically needed for the Elixir of Concentration. This concoction increases your Critical Damage by 30% for 15 minutes, making it a great buff for boss fights.
