Where Winds Meet – How Do Mystic Arts Work

Mystic Arts in Where Winds Meet are special abilities that players can use during strategic moments in the game. They are powerful moves that are used either in combat to eliminate enemies or out of combat for mobility or puzzle-solving purposes. Necessary progress is required to rank up the Mystic Arts and unlock Tiers with the required resources to make them more powerful. In this guide, we’ll explain how Mystic Arts work and how you can use them in Where Winds Meet.

Mystic Arts are basically special skills or moves that players can use either in combat or to solve puzzles in Where Winds Meet. The HUD for Mystic Arts is on the right side of the screen, beside Martial Arts skills. You can equip up to eight Mystic Arts at the same time, with four per row (though not right away – slots keep getting unlocked as you progress).

The effects of these Mystic Arts can either be:

    • in combat with AOE damage, healing yourself and allies. The Guardian Palm Mystic Art, for example, has you dealing a palm strike towards the ground that deals massive AOE damage and has a knockback effect on enemies.
    • solve puzzles and complete certain interactions. The Glow of Fireflies, for example, helps you in dark and dimly lit areas by illuminating your immediate surroundings.
    • help traversal and mobility, making it easier to explore the open world and access specific areas. The Wall Jump Mystic Art, for example, lets you do exactly that – quickly dash across walls and other similar surfaces.

How To Unlock Mystic Arts in Where Winds Meet

There are a total of 40 Mystic Arts in the game. You unlock more Mystic Arts through joining a Sect, performing a Skill Steal, completing quests, and exploring the open world of Where Winds Meet.

The game also helps you find these – so, for example, if you check a locked Martial Art, and click on ‘How to Learn’, you get pointed towards the exact location on the map where you can unlock that particular Art. It could either be a side quest, an NPC, or a puzzle at that location.

How to Equip and Use Mystic Arts in Where Winds Meet

To equip Mystic Arts in Where Winds Meet, head into the “Develop” Menu by pressing the “Options” button and selecting it from the wheel. You’ll be able to view which Mystic Art you want to equip inside this Menu.

To use your preferred Mystic Art, press the R2/RT button on your controller to open the Mystic Arts wheel, then press either Square/X, Triangle/Y, Circle/B, or X/A to perform one.

Performing Mystic Arts costs Vitality, denoted by a white circle inside the Mystic Arts HUD. The more powerful the Mystic Art, the more Vitality you’ll consume to cast it. Once you have used up Vitality to perform a Mystic Art, the game then encourages you to hit enemies using your weapons to refill Vitality, thus preventing you from spamming these special skills.

When you unlock the second Mystic Arts wheel, you can switch between them by pressing up and down on the directional buttons located on the left side of your controller.

That covers everything you need to know about Mystic Arts in Where Winds Meet. For more extensive guides on the RPG, check out the ones on the Complete Weapons Guide and the Best Early Game Tips For the Perfect Start.
