Solarpunk – Where to Find the Trader and Unlock Blueprints

Trying to figure out where to find the trader Solarpunk? The trader is essential for progressing through the game, unlocking new blueprints, upgrading your Airship, and accessing automation features. If you’re wondering where to find the trader in Solarpunk and how blueprint trading works, here’s everything you need to know.

So, if you’ve found yourself scratching your head, wondering how to progress in Solarpunk, you might just want to get yourself over to the trader and start unlocking new blueprints. Not only will doing so give you access to new buildings and items, but it will also let you upgrade your Airship and get out to more floating islands in the distance.

Finding the trader in Solarpunk is also the key to finding the blueprints. If you want to unlock new features and items, you’ll first need to find the trader and make sure you’re ready to start earning blueprints; without them, you’re not going to get very far in the game.

Where to Find the Trader in Solarpunk

Unlike most games, where traders will take some form of currency or items, in Solarpunk, you really need to get to the trader location before you can start progressing and push the electricity and automation side of the game.

The main problem: the trader isn’t on the same floating island you started on. So, unless you’ve somehow gained the power of flight, you’re going to need to unlock the Airship.

Before you’re able to do this, you will, of course, have to unlock the map in Solarpunk, if you haven’t done so already. You might have noticed you don’t start with one, and yes, I took much longer than I should have to notice that. Fear not, creating a map is a quick and simple task, so you should be sorted in no time.

How to Get to the Trader in Solarpunk

To get to the trader in Solarpunk, you’re going to need an Airdock and an Airship. Both of these will finally allow you to get off the first island you start on and get exploring.

First, you’ll need to build the Airdock near the edge of the floating island. From there, you’re able to then build a new Airship, which you can use to get to the trader. Don’t worry if you’re bad at flying it like me; you can also pick up some Airship repair kits to fix it after it takes a few bashes.

Unlike the other floating islands in the game, the trader is located on a giant Airship, not an actual island. It doesn’t seem to move, so it should always be in the same spot, and with it being marked on the map, it’s quick and easy to find and get to.

Now you’ve got the means to fly, head on over to the trader’s Airship and dock up using the designated docking area, which you can see outlined in blue.

To start with, you’ll be able to trade 4 watermelons for a sprinkler set, which includes a Nework Display, Energy Generator, two sprinklets, and several cables.

While this will kickstart your journey in the game, you’ll need to keep going back to the trader and give them other items in order to obtain more blueprints. To do this, you’ll need to use the device opposite the trader, as well as trading items with the trader in order to unlock some generic blueprints.

You’ll see some new items that the trader will want once you’ve got the sprinkler set. This can often include items such as copper, iron, or plants such as cotton. You will also see the upcoming trades, which let you know what to expect from the next trade, once you’ve completed the one you’re working on.

Once you’ve got the resources that the trader wants, you’ll be able to hand them in for a blueprint, which you can then use at the device opposite him, in order to unlock more advanced items, such as the Energy Workbench, solar panels, and more.

Now that you’ve got to the trader, started making trades, and unlocked new blueprints, you just need to keep repeating this process every time you want to progress further in the game. Of course, you also have the standard research table as well, where you can unlock tools, other useful resources, and decorative items.
