During the quest The Ultimate Heist, you will be asked to open the door by using the Arrow of Extrication. You will find yourself in a huge chamber with a large statue in the middle, referred to as the Keyhole Pillar. You must use the Arrow of Extrication at a specific spot in the room to open the door. Finding that spot can be a bit tricky. The guide here will cover where to use the Arrow of Extrication (Special Place) in Oblivion Remastered.
Arrow of Extrication Use In Oblivion Remastered

You must push two blocks in the ruins to activate the special place in the main room to use the Arrow of Extrication. Once you reach the pillar in the large chamber, the objective will get updated to:
“There must be some secret way to open this door. I’ll bet this is where I have to use the Arrow of Extrication. Most likely, I have to be standing in a special place for the keyhole to open up. It will be somewhere with a clear view of this pillar.“
Our objective is to open the keyhole on the pillar, but from standing on a specific spot in the area.
Pushing The First Block

- Walk up to the large statue, now turn around and head left. Head to the pillar southwest of the chamber. Here, you will come across a locked steel gate blending into the wall. The objective will get updated to:
“These walls look like they are meant to move. Maybe the place I need to stand to fire the arrow is behind them. I’d better look for a way to get through them.”
- Use the lockpick to open the door and get inside. Immediately turn left and “Push Block”. Now it’s time to hunt for the second Block, which will take us to the bottom of the ruins.
Pushing the Second Block

- Turn around from the first block location, follow the route by the stone barricade, head down the stairs, and kill the ghost next to the pillar. Here, you will find a small hole in the room connecting to the other room. You will find the hole southeast of the room. Crawl through a small hole on your right.
- Now you will come across two divided paths, but both will lead to the same location. Either take the route on the left or the right, you will arrive at a door named “Stone Door to Hall of Epochs.”
- Head straight, kill the ghost, and open the steel gate on the left. Now you will be in a large room with Welkynd Stones and a Chandelier at the top. Just from the door, head straight, and go down the stairs. You will find the stairs north of the room.
- Once you arrive on the bottom floor, just turn left and take another flight of stairs down to the final floor. Here you will also have to fend off some skeletons.
- Now you will be in a room with a chest at the end of the room, you will also find a button behind the chest on the wall. Now, interact with the button to “Push Block”.
Note: The room will be filled with zombies, so take care of them before doing anything, or you will get a surprise hit from the back.
Using the Arrow of Extrication
With two of the blocks interacting, head back to the main hall where we found the statue. Here, you will come across new enemies that spawn. Since using the Arrow of Extrication requires you to use a bow, if you don’t have one in possession, killing the enemies will drop one.
- Now you will also spot a Red Crystal in the room, which will be directly across the statue with the keyhole. That’s our special spot to shoot the Arrow of Extrication at the statue’s keyhole.
- After grabbing the bow off the enemy’s body, walk up to the Red Crystal. The objective will then get updated to:
“This must be the spot. Standing on this pressure plate opens the pedestal at the far end of the room. I should practice with normal arrows a few times before trying the Arrow of Extrication. I will only get one try.“
- If you stand in the spot, near the Red Crystal, the statue across from the location will begin to move. The head of the statue will now be facing your location instead of showing its back. Now it’s time to use the Arrow of Extrication.
- Go to your Inventory, equip the Bow with the Arrow of Extrication. Now, shoot the arrow at the keyhole in the statue to open the door.
Tip: It is better to make a Quick Save before the shooting, if you do mess up the aiming. Quick Load if you fail to land the shot.
The final door will open, and the objective will then read:
“I’ve used the Arrow of Extrication to activate the door and open the secret way into the palace. There is no telling where I might end up. I should take care to extinguish my lights, muffle my footsteps, and be stealthy as I enter the door.“
