    Oblivion Remastered: Bruma Recommendation Guide

Some of the quests in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will be familiar to veteran players who have played the original version. But, you might find some objectives within certain quests a bit difficult to follow. After you have picked up a quest from the Bruma Mages Guild, you will be tasked with locating a missing mage. To find the mage, you have to pick up some clues, and this guide will show you how to complete the Bruma Recommendation in Oblivion Remastered.

How To Start Bruma Recommendation In Oblivion Remastered

You need to find and talk to Jeanne Frasoric to start the Bruma Recommendation quest, and she can be found within the Bruma Mages Guild. She will tell you about a mage, J’skar, who has been missing for a while. If you are successful, Jeanne will put forward a Burma Recommendation for you. Accept her offer, then continue on to the next step, which is to find J’skar.

There are two methods you can use to find J’skar, and both of them will require some time and effort. J’skar can be found within the guild building itself, and you can either find the mage on your own, or ask for help from one of his friends. We will explain both methods below.

    Find J’skar Yourself

This is by far the easiest method of the two, as you just require one spell to locate the mage. Use the Detect Life spell and walk around to find a purple glow that doesn’t correspond to any visible NPC. You will end up being led to the basement, where you might also find yourself bumping into something invisible.

J’skar had cast a Chameleon spell to turn invisible, so bumping into him will alarm him. He will tell you not to give his position away or tell Jeanne about this. To turn him visible again, cast any of the Dispel spell types on him. He will be a bit displeased that his cover has been blown, but he will turn himself in anyway.

    Seek Help From Volanaro

Volanaro is J’skar’s friend, and the only one who apparently knows where you can find him. You can find Volanaro in the guild hall, but you need to increase your deposition with him to at least 70 to seek his help. Before he agrees to help you, he will tell you to play a prank on Jeanne by stealing her Manual of Spellcraft book from her desk. You can also collect a Minor Latch Crack spell from him to help you unlock the desk drawer.

Head upstairs to find Jeanne’s room, enter it and use the spell that you had learnt from Volanaro on the desk. Be sure that there is no one else in the room while you are stealing, or you will be caught and suspended. Pick up the book and return to Volanaro, and he will tell you to come back to his room in the living quarters at 10 PM. Do just that, then ask Volanaro about J’skar, after which he will make J’skar reappear. Return to Jeanne after that to complete the quest.

Seek Help from Volanaro Without Stealing

If you don’t feel like stealing from Jeanne but still want the Minor Latch Crack spell, you can combine both methods above. First, find Volanaro and agree to steal the book to get the spell, then find J’skar on your own. You can still talk to Volanaro after finding J’skar and also complete the quest by talking to Jeanne.
