Diversifying your build for different playthroughs has always been a great way to keep the player engaged with the game. Black Myth: Wukong brings an amazing customizable option to the forefront with the introduction of Soaks. Applying them can modify the effects and drastically change the gameplay mechanics, or you can use certain gourds to do a challenge run. There are no restrictions to them, you can travel between chapters to obtain them even after you are done with the story.

Tip: Make sure to collect the Soaks before you hit New Game + or as it is titled Enter a New Cycle.

Guide To All Soaks Locations In Black Myth Wukong

There are 27 different Soaks in the game, but we will have to get our monkey hands on only 26 of them on the first playthrough, the last Soak is only unlocked after we hit New Game+. There are a few Soaks on the list that require you to finish up side quests, we have added links to amazing guides to help you figure out the routes to the side quest easily. We will go through all chapters, to make it easier for us to find it without any complications. Let’s begin.

Chapter 1: All Soaks In Black Wind Moutain

Awaken Wine Worm Black Wind Cave Black Myth Wukong

    Gall Gem (Uncommon)

Effect – Moderate increase in Poison Resistance

Location – Bamboo Grove, travel to Marsh of White Mist Keeper’s Shrine

Head west from Marsh of White Mist Keeper’s Shrine, you will get to the wooden bridge. Here defeat the white snake enemy. A cutscene will soon follow up, a monkey named Shen will thank you for rescuing him and hand you the Gall Gem Soak. Remember this area well, we will come back to him to buy a different Soak after unlocking new chapters.

Tender Jade Lotus (Rare) [RNG Drop]

Effect – Raises Defense for a short time

Location – Black Wind Cave Head to Cave Interior Keeper’s Shrine

or Valley of Ecstasy, in Towers of Karma Keeper’s Shrine

This Soak is complete RNG, if you are lucky you will get it right away or grind it out. While it can be obtainable in Chapter 1, head to any area with water but again, it is all random. The game has Jade Lotus growing out in all corners of its world, if you have trouble getting it in the first chapter, you can follow up on the subsequent chapters, head towards any location with a lake or river, and you will eventually get it.

Tips: There are some tricks here, if you didn’t get it the first time, you can wait for 30 minutes or fiddle with your PC or console Date setting to the next day for the Tender Jade Lotus to respawn. But many players just jump around different chapters until they get it.

Chapter 2: All Soaks in Yellow Wind Ridge

    Laurel Buds (Rare)

Effect – Moderate Damage Reduction for a short time.

Location – Sandgate Village> Make your way to Village Entrance Keeper’s Shrine

Head west from the shrine, cross a small wooden bridge, and start moving in the northeast. After a short jog through the rocks, you will arrive at a deserted village to your left, but keep sticking to the right side until you see a statue on your right with a small container on the table in the front. Open it to get Laurel Buds Soak.

    Iron Pellet (Rare)

Effect – Significant Damage Reduction for a short time + No interruption from enemies while using Gourd.

Location – Fright Cliff> Head to Squall Hideout Keeper’s shrine

Unlike all the other ones, Iron Pellet Soak can be bought from Man-In Stone’s store for 6480 Will. The caveat here, you must finish the Man-In-Stone quest to buy the Soak off him.

    Tiger Relic (Rare)

Effect – Raises Critical Hit Chance for a short time

Location – Crouching Tiger Temple head to Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine

After you take down the Tiger Vanguard boss, go through its mouth after making your way through narrow corridors eventually you will get to a sand slide. Here take the slide and jump to the ledge immediately, waiting for too long will make you do the whole section all over again. The Soak is in the container on the ledge, a well-timed jump at the beginning of the slide will do the trick.

    Copper Pill (Epic)

Effect – Rock Solid Cast costs no mana after using the Gourd

Location – Yellow Wind Formation, go to the Windrest Bridge Keeper’s Shrine.

Move east of the Windrest Bridge Keeper’s Shrine, and go down the staircase, on your right you will find a container with a Copper Pill Soak.

    Steel Ginseng (Rare) [RNG drop]

Effect – Gain focus after using Gourd

Location – Fright Cliff then to Squall Hideout Keeper’s Shrine, or Valley of Ecstasy, in Towers of Karma Keeper’s Shrine

You will find plenty of Ginseng plants on your way to the Man-In Stone’s location. Since this Soak is also part of the RNG club, the chance of acquiring the Steel Ginseng is completely random. Follow the same procedure here, as you have for other random item drops in the game.

Wait for 30 minutes for the Ginseng to respawn or mess around with other chapters then travel back to try your luck once again. Advancing the time on your console or PC does help.

Effect – Raises Maximum Health for a short time

Location -Sandgate Village then Village Entrance Keeper’s Shrine (High Chance)

Kingdom of Shali then head to Sandgate Bound Keeper’s Shrine

The objective here is to farm as much Licorice as you possibly can, it’s all up to the random god here. They are easier to notice, as the purple flowers are the highlights. Make sure to pay attention to them, as they can easily blend well with the surroundings.

The village entrance carries quite a lot of Licorice plants, if you fail to obtain Goat Skull out of them, then wait for 30 minutes for respawn or you can always jump around different chapters or just reboot the game.
