Black Myth Wukong, like all good action RPGs has several secrets to unlock, and NPCs with side quests to complete. All these diversions from the main story are absolutely worth it – since these areas and quest lines contain many key upgrade items and throw some intimidating bosses at you as well. When it comes to secret areas; almost all chapters in Black Myth Wukong have one – and in this guide, we have put up all the information you need on how to unlock the secret area in Chapter 4: The Purple Mountain.
How To Unlock Secret Area In Chapter 4 Black Myth Wukong
You will need to defeat a boss (Venom Daoist) twice, and in the second instance it will turn out to be a 2 phase fight; for you to reach the secret Purple Mountain area in Chapter 4 of Black Myth Wukong. You can do this by performing the following steps:
- Start from the Pool of Shattered Jade Keeper’s Shrine in The Webbed Hollow region.
- Proceed through the spider sacs hanging from the ceiling; till you approach a clear area with one large spider sac. As all your instincts tell you; hitting this is probably not a good idea.
- Go ahead and do exactly that – which leads to a cutscene and then the boss fight with Venom Daoist.
- Most of the attacks are pretty telegraphed and easy to avoid; except for a quick lunge which can cover a long distance to take a swipe at you. The best window to attack is after the boss jumps in the air to deliver a slam. Immobilize and the Wandering Wight spirit are your best tools to dispatch this boss.
- Once the health bar is depleted, the Daoist will run away, promising another go at you once it has reached full mastery. Ominous words and that is exactly what happens when you run across him the second time around.
- Next, travel to the Court of Illumination in the Temple of the Yellow Flowers and follow the uphill path taking the stairs till the area clears out into an opening with the Venom Daoist in the middle of it. Cue boss fight Round 2.
- The first phase proceeds along similar lines to when you encountered him the first time around. Once that phase is done, the boss comments that the spider limbs were not worth the effort and lets go of those – leading to a more agile and dangerous phase 2 fight.
- The attacks to watch out for are when it jumps in the air, throws the two swords at you, and then quickly dashes in, taking those swords and stabbing you with them. The other attacks are largely sword swipes which are not very difficult to dodge around. The end of these combos from the boss is your window to go in and dish some major damage of your own.
- With the boss defeated, the plain rock wall now develops a painting that you can interact with to lead you into Purple Cloud Mountain.
