Styx: Blades of Greed – Best Route to the Captain’s Bedroom

Styx: Blades of Greed is a stealth-focused action adventure title that tasks players with stepping into the shoes of the titular goblin himself, remaining in the shadows while silently working towards their objectives, whether that’s to pick off specific enemies or to make it to certain areas.

With a heavy focus on freedom to play however you want, you’ll often be presented with multiple ways to complete objectives, and as the maps have a huge amount of verticality, this can be a little overwhelming, even with the simple traversal mechanics the game offers.

One of the first objectives Styx must accomplish after the short tutorial segment is commandeering an airship which will allow him to make his escape. To do this, players must find their way into the captain of the airship’s bedroom, which is located within a multi-floor tavern. This guide will explain the easiest route to that specific bedroom.

    Locating the Best Entry Point

Emerging from the mines in which Styx: Blades of Greed’s tutorial took place, you’ll need to make your way straight ahead, across a gap between adjacent rooftops. Once you are perched on the rooftop opposite, you’ll get clear sight of the tavern in which the captain’s bedroom resides. You’ll notice there are many entry points, but the easiest one is adjacent to a balcony sticking out of the left side of the tavern, right next to a handy-looking crane. You’ll need to make your way to the crane, avoiding the couple of guards on sentry duty, before climbing it, and using it to enter step onto the balcony, before jumping to the balcony further back, to your right.

Once you enter the tavern through this specific balcony (not the one next to the crane, but the one to the right of it), there will be two guards to take care of at opposite ends of the room, both can be dispatched easily enough without alerting the other. As soon as you’ve taken them both out, you’ll be able to grab a valuable lockpick from the table. You’ll then notice a door to your left, but don’t take this, as that will mean using the lockpick already, when you want to keep this in order to open the captain’s bedroom itself. Instead, crouch, and head under the table, through a hole in the wall to the room opposite.

In this room, there will be one guard who is fast asleep. Dispatch him, but again, ignore the door to your left. Instead, jump out the window, and onto the ledge outside, which has just enough room for you to stand. Follow this ledge all the way to your left, until you spot another open window which you’ll need to enter.

Upon entering this open window, your destination is actually the first door on your right. However, there are two guards patrolling this floor and you’ll want to dispatch them both for ease. One is right under the window, so before entering, get the other guard in your eyeline and wait until he walks away before dispatching the closer one. Then its just a case of sneaking up on the second guard and finishing him off, before returning to the door. You can now use the lockpick you stole from the table earlier to open the door and finish your objective! With this done, you’ll be well on your way to acquiring the airship, which is when Styx: Blades of Greed really begins to open up properly.
