In Starsand Island, there are a number of ingredients that are essentially the basics of your easier recipes when cooking. Basically, if you have these ingredients, you can make a lot of recipes from them without having to go collect specific items for those recipes, such as having to get cucumbers specifically for Smashed Cucumber compared to being able to use Vegetable Juice across multiple recipes.

The basic ingredients for cooking are Flour, Sugar, Salt, Vegetable Juice, Fruit Pulp, Protein Powder, Meat Bites, and Fish Fillet. With the exception of Salt, you’ll get these items from using the Separator.

Starsand Island – Craft a Separator

Like most craft items, you’ll need to work with Zerine to start your journey as an apprentice crafter and purchase the blueprint for the Separator from her general store. Then, you can craft it using the worktable and 3 Stone, 3 Softwood, and 5 Fiber.

For making salt, you’ll need a Charcoal Kiln, but Zerine will make you craft one as part of her quests before she has you make a Separator, so you’ll have this already available at this point.

With the exception of Salt and Flour, you’ll be able to put in multiple items for the same input. Here’s a full look at your basic ingredients and what you can put into the Separator to craft them.

From here, you can use the items above as ingredients to craft numerous recipes. This makes it worth having them stored so that you can always craft more food if you’re planning to do a lot of activities that day, such as heading into Moonlit Forest. As an example, Flour is used for Plain Noodles, is combined with Vegetable Juice for Veggie Noodles, and can be combined with Meat Bites for Soup Dumplings.

Having the basics from the Separator means that you’ll always have the ingredients needed for a variety of recipes, so you can be prepared to cook at a moment’s notice in Starsand Island.
