StarRupture has a lot of things to learn, from survival to what ores you’ll need to craft everything. There’s a lot that’s different from other survival games, but one big thing is how bases work.
If your base is suddenly attacked or you happen to lead some Vermin back, they can cause significant disruptions to your setup. They’ll create a sort of blue mist around your base that prevents it from working.
If you’re looking to get everything back up and running, look no further. This guide will run you through how the blue mist starts and how to get rid of it.
What is the Blue Mist?

The blue mist is more of a visual cue about a technological disruption. This mist causes your shields to slowly deteriorate over time as long as you’re in the infected area. This becomes a bit of an issue when you’re in combat, as that shield can really be the barrier between life and death.
This blue mist effect occurs when you either shoot Blue Vermin or allow them to get too close while scouring the planet for some blueprints of War Bonds. They’ll then explode and create the blue mist.
You can always move out of the area of effect to get rid of the buildup, but even more will likely come after you.
How to Disinfect Your Base

In the case of those awful Vermin getting into your base, they’ll almost immediately go after your Base Core. The small blue Vermin will attempt to infect it while the rest of the Vermin go after you.
If you can manage to stop them before they reach the core, you should be able to prevent them from infecting anything too badly. If they do manage to infect it, you’ll have to do a little extra work to get rid of the infection.
The blue mist will settle over your entire base, coating everything in a ton of blue markings. These prevent anything from working and stop any productions from occurring.
To get rid of the infection, you’ll want to make your way to your Base Core to start and look for the small blue infection. It’s usually sitting over the vent on the side about halfway up the core structure.

Once you’ve got eyes on it, you can just shoot it and then interact with the core to disinfect it. That should clear things up, but if it doesn’t, you may want to look around your base for any more infected spots.
The infections can also be eliminated by the waves that erupt from the Rupture. These waves burn everything on the planet, from plants to the Vermin themselves, including the gross gunk they seem to put out.
Always remember to grab anything those little monsters drop so you can convert it into Data Points. This can always be a bit easier with friends, but even without friends you’ll want to check everywhere you can to get everything you might need.
