What Are Poltergeists In Stalker 2?
Poltergeists are confusing enemies when you first encounter them as they don’t make their presence known immediately. Instead, you will see the environment around you get used against you as objects float and fly towards you or flames start bursting out of walls. Some players assume they are more like traps rather than enemies but this is not true. You are in fact able to fight back against them and eliminate them all together but each type of Poltergeist requires different strategies.
How To Defeat Electric Poltergeist In Stalker 2
The Electric Poltergeist is likely going to be the first Poltergeist you encounter in Stalker 2. This one uses telekinesis to throw objects at you at incredible speeds, it also uses electric powers to damage you if you come in its path as it moves around in the form of a floating orb of energy.
Avoiding the telekinesis object throws is the key to surviving against the Electric Poltergeist. There will be an audio cue that plays whenever he is lifting up an object and getting ready to throw it at you. It’s also possible to spot the object levitating, make sure you get behind cover or keep running and jumping if there is no cover.
Your window of attack is during the downtime of this telekinesis ability. Getting up close with a powerful shotgun like the Toz-34 is the best way to deal burst damage during the small chance you will get as it darts around the area. But at the same time, make sure you are not in its path as you will take damage if it comes too close and passes through you. It will also occasionally put up a defense of rocks and stones when you shoot it but you can keep shooting to break it or just wait for it to disappear.
How To Defeat Fire Poltergeist In Stalker 2
The Fire Poltergeist in Stalker 2 is much more annoying and difficult to deal with than the other one. If you followed along the Loners and sided with them rather than the Ward, then you will encounter this Poltergeist quite early in the game at the Detention Center.
There is a defined space with the Fire Poltergeist, entering this space will make it start spewing fire from the walls, floor, and objects around you. Not taking damage is almost impossible with this one, so you will need to prepare and gather healing items like Medkits and Bandages before you attempt to kill it. Equipping armor with good thermal protection like the Seva-I Suit or the SSP-99 Ecologist will also help negate some of that fire damage.
Getting close to the Fire Poltergeist is also not an option as the fire damage will only get worse. So for this one, you will need to shoot at the floating fire orb from afar with longer-range guns. Preferably you should wait until it stops moving around to get a clear shot. When fighting in a tight enclosed space like the basement of the Detention Center, you can also use grenades to your advantage.
Defeating all types of Poltergeists in Stalker 2 may seem like a daunting task at first since they can be intimidating but with practice, you will be able to take them down like a legendary stalker.
