RuneScape Dragonwilds – How To Craft Steel Bars & Stone Blocks

RuneScape: Dragonwilds‘ new Fellhollow region feels like something straight out of a Halloween nightmare. Besides fighting undead enemies in the new area, you will also find new crafting materials to build better gear and sturdier structures.

This includes creating Stone Blocks and Steel Bars, but the process involved to get to this point is lengthy. You need to unlock the required furniture blueprints and structures first, and find the right crafting materials. Once you unlock Steel and Stone, you are one step closer to building better bases and owning high-tier gear.

If you’re jumping into the Fellhollow update and want to know how to unlock Steel Bars and Stone Blocks, this guide will walk you through the step-by-step process below.

How to Get the Blast Furnace in Runescape Dragon Wilds

The Blast Furnace blueprint unlocks after mining Coal. Coal is one of the new resources to find in the Fellhollow update, after gaining access to the new region. You might have to go through the Old Wise Man’s questline first before you have access to Fellhollow.

Once you are inside the Fellhollow region, you will spot random Coal node spawns. After finding them, use your mining spell on the node to gather Coal and unlock the Blast Furnace blueprint. To craft a Blast Furnace, you will require the following materials:

    • 2x Vault Core
    • 10x Fire Rune
    • 4x Draconic Leather
    • 8x Iron Bar
    • 12x Granite

Most of the materials above can be farmed early in the game, except for Draconic Leather. This new item is created by defeating Dragon Wolves and getting Dragon Wolf Hide and Dragon Blood. Take the hide to the Tannery to get Draconic Leather, or mix Dragon Blood with Hard Leather to get Draconic Leather.

How to Craft a Steel Bar

Interact with the Blast Furnace to start crafting Steel. You will require 3x iron ores or 1 iron ingot, along with 3x coal, to create 1x steel bar.

You also need fuel to power up the Blast Furnace, so head over to your crafting bench and craft a Fuel Pellet. This requires 1x adhesive, 1x fur scrap, and 1x charcoal.

With Steel, you get to craft new armor and weapons that require this particular crafting material. This will be a step up from what you already use, as it will be stronger and durable than gear created using lower-tiered materials.

How to Get the Stone Cutter

Now that you have Steel, you will unlock the Stone Cutter blueprint. To craft the Stone Cutter, you will require the following materials.

    • 4x Steel Bar
    • 8x Fine Thread
    • 1x Vault Core
    • 18x Oak Logs

Again, most of the materials above are obtainable in the early game, except for Fine Thread. To get Fine Thread, while exploring the Fellhollow region, run around to find Corpse Cotton pods. Hit them to get Corpse Cotton and, in the rare chance, Corpse Cotton Seeds.

The seeds can be planted at your farming plots after unlocking the necessary plots, giving you infinite Corpse Cotton Pods. If you instead have Corpse Cotton, take it to the Spinning Wheel to turn it into Fine Thread. You will need 4x Corpse Cotton to create 1x Fine Thread.

    How to Craft Stone Block

Interact with the Stone Cutter to place 2x Stones to get 1x Stone Block. Stone Blocks are required for the new building foundations, which is a step up from your basic wood structures. You get to build a sturdier base that won’t get destroyed easily.

And with that, you get to unlock and use Steel Bars and Stone Blocks in Runescape: Dragonwilds. Check out our other guides on the game like How To Investigate The Blue Flame Door, How To Get Marrentill, and Dog Days Quest Guide.
