Veteran Pokémon players would be aware that you need to pick one out of the two evolution forms for Charcadet. It all depends on the type of armor you give it, and you will either get an Armarouge or Ceruledge as the final form.
Pokémon Legends Z-A’s new DLC also offers this choice, and after obtaining a Charcadet, my next task was to evolve it. That took me on a hunt around Lumiose City to find anyone willing to hand over the Auspicious Armor or Malicious Armor.
As luck would have it, I did find someone who had both armor types… but was willing to part with just one. This is a tough decision to make, and that’s why I have put this guide together to help you evolve Charcadet in Pokémon Z-A.
How to Get Charcadet in Pokémon Legends Z-A

If you don’t have a Charcadet yet, enter the Hyperspace Wild Zone in Rogue Sector 2. The nearest fast travel point to get here is Restaurant Le Wow. Do consume a high-energy or high-calorie donut to increase your time spent within these Hyperspace Wild Zones. Once inside, you will encounter Charcadets that are between Levels 114-116. Defeat them to get a Charcadet.
How to Get Auspicious Armor and Malicious Armor in Pokémon Legends Z-A

Now that you have a Charcadet, you need to speak to Adver to get either the Malicious Armor or the Auspicious Armor to evolve Charcadet. To find this NPC, head over to Vert Sector 7. The nearest waypoints here are either Racine Construction or Cafe Cyclone.
Whichever fast travel point you pick, head into the alleyway under the bridge beside Wild Zone 17 and speak to Adver to start Side Quest 132 – Bitter Blue Flame vs. Blazing Crimson.

After your conversation with him, you get to pick an armor type for your Charcadet. The Auspicious Armor will evolve your Charcadet into Armarouge, a Fire/Psychic-type Pokémon. The Malicious Armor will evolve it into Ceruledge, a Fire/Ghost-type Pokémon.
You can only pick one. Once decided, speak to Adver again, and he will give his Charcadet the armor that you didn’t pick. This will start a battle against both of your evolved Charcadets to test them out. Once the battle is over, you will complete the side quest and receive:
- ₽4,300
- Gold Bottle Cap x1
- Bottle Cap x5
Which Armor to Pick

Since the game lets you pick just one armor out of the two, it all depends on how you wish to place Charcadet’s evolved form in your team. If you are lagging in Pokémon that offer high Physical Attack stats, then go for Ceruledge. Otherwise, stick to Armarouge for higher Special Attack stats instead. If you own a prior save file, you could go back to this side quest and pick another armor instead.
