Path of Exile 2 – Draiocht Hengestone Explained

The 0.3.0 Path of Exile 2 update includes stronger Deadly Bosses in Act 4. Each map in Path of Exile 2 now offers these unique bosses, but you need to unlock the map nodes to access them. During your runs, you might notice Draiocht Hengstones pop up randomly, and at first glance, they don’t seem to do much. This guide will explain what exactly Draiocht Hengestones do in Path of Exile 2.

While checking out the World Atlas Map, check for maps surrounded by electric blue sparks to find possible Draiocht Hengestones. After locating them, head over there and clear it, which may or may not include defeating the boss here. If the Draiocht Hengestone spawns in the area, just interact with it to activate it. After that, check your World Map for the next marked area and repeat the steps above.

Draiocht Hengestones are random spawns, so you might have to visit several blue-spark regions to unlock them all. If a map has been cleared before, you might still need to redo them if they have the blue spark marking. It might take a couple of runs across different maps before you activate the required Draiocht Hengestones to unlock the new boss map.

Bug: Some players have noticed that the Draiocht Hengestone sometimes spawns within the boss map, making it impossible to locate the last stone to unlock it. Currently, there isn’t a fix for this besides restarting the game.

There are 4 Deadly Bosses in Act 4’s Atlas endgame, and each of them is found after locating unique nodes in nearby maps, which help unlock the boss maps. That’s where the Draiocht Hengestone comes in. You are required to locate all nearby Hengestones to unlock the Derelict Mansion/ Mansion in the Mists map, the first boss map in the new update.

After activating the last required Draiocht Hengestone, check the World Map to gain access to the Derelict Mansion. This is home to two new Deadly Bosses: Avelyne, the Withered Rose, and Varloch, the Ashen Lord. After clearing the area of the bosses, you get to find one of the next map nodes to unlock the next boss map. Below are all the map nodes that you need to find and the respective boss maps they unlock.
