Palworld 1.0 – Best Chromite Farm

Palworld has dozens of different ores you’ll need to juggle, and the more niche ones can be hard to come by and easy to miss. One of the most well-hidden is Chromite, an essential ore for Hexolite production.

Hexolite is a major resource used throughout the later mid game of Palworld, so you’ll need plenty of Chromite to secure your output. Let’s go over the Palworld 1.0 Best Chromite Farm.

    What is Chromite Used For?

Chromite only actually has one use, acting as a piece of Hexolite Ingot production. Despite this, you’ll need a total of 5 Chromite for every Hexolite bar, so having a supply is a must.

We’ll be aiming to absolutely maximize our output of Chromite, shifting between two major methods. Let’s get started with the first!

    How to Find Chromite

Chromite is easy to miss entirely because Chromite veins rarely spawn on the surface. While you can find scraps wandering across Feybreak, you’ll only be able to find real deposits buried underground in specific spots, and even then, they remain hidden under the terrain.

You have two options to find Chromite, both locked behind level 58 of the Tech Tree. We’ll start with our tool-based method, the Metal Detector.

The Metal Detector is a piece of tech based entirely around finding and revealing Chromite. As long as you have it equipped, you’ll hear a faster and faster beeping as you approach Chromite. Once you get close enough, the Chromite vein will reveal itself, and you can mine them freely.

Alternatively, you can make use of the Pal Smokie! Smokie is a small wolf Pal found literally all around Feybreak, though I had my best luck finding it around the northern end of the island (-811, -828).

Smokie’s Partner Skill, “Dig, Smokie, Dig!”, allows him to detect and dig up Chromite when in proximity. Additionally, Smokie will allow spawn extra Chromite whenever you find some. This bonus Chromite increases based on Smokie’s tier.

This ability is locked behind the Smokie Harness, a level 58 technology that allows you to manually activate Smokie’s ability on demand.

    The Smokie Harness requires…

    • 20 Leather
    • 50 Fiber
    • 5 Dark Fragments
    • 40 Paldium Fragments

Once you reach level 78, things get very easy, thanks to the Ancient Material Synthesizer! The Ancient Material Synthesizer is an endgame facility that allows you to literally spawn one of a selection of ores. Amongst them is Chromite, removing the entire need to go out and look for it.

    The Ancient Material Synthesizer requires…

    • 50 Paloxite Ingots
    • 10 Ancient Civilization Cores

One of the last additions to your base you’ll make, the Ancient Material Synthesizer makes things so much easier, simply send a Pal to man it and pick a resource to never hunt down again!

    Best Chromite Farm Locations

All across Feybreak you can find hidden caves that are perfect for hunting down Chromite. We’ll go over a few here, with explanations on where to find their entrances. These caves are filled with Pals, ore, and Feybreak Warriors, and each has around 3~5 Chromite deposits hidden within.

    Crystalized Tunnel (-910, -1318)

We’ll start with the Crystalized Tunnel, a tunnel found in the autumn forested area towards the center of Feybreak. The tunnel’s entrance is framed by small trees, hidden against the stone wall of a cliff.

In my runs through it, the Crystalized Tunnel consistently housed 4 Chromite deposits, just make sure to have Smokie in the party to make the most of every drop.

    Dark Flame Tunnel (-1037, -1196)

The Dark Flame Tunnel opens with a long, dark tunnel before you make it into the cave proper. You can find Chromite anywhere there’s stone on the ground, so make sure you’ve got either the Metal Detector or Smokie going so you don’t miss a bit.

    Shield Dragon Tunnel (-1043, -1066)

These coordiantes mark the proper entrance to the Shield Dragon Tunnel, which has a deceptively placed icon on the map. Loop around to the southwest of the tunnel’s marker on the map to find the actual entrance, carved into the opposite side of the mountain.

This cave also houses the Alpha field boss variant of Silvegis, a powerful tanking Pal that can abuse a disposable shield to tank mountains of damage. Feel free to catch it whenever you enter before clearing the tunnel for Chromite.

    Bloodstained Tunnel (-1211, -1381)

Our final cave is right where the blue and purple segments of Feybreak meet. Another long tunnel will lead to the end of the Bloodstained Tunnel, packed with a few hostile Pals and 4 more nodes of Chromite.
