MIO: Memories In Orbit – How To Beat Ati

If you’ve collected all the Pearls for the Nexus, then there’s only one thing standing in your way when it comes to rolling credits on MIO: Memories in Orbit, and that’s Ati, the game’s final boss.

Ati has been a friend, albeit a distant one to this point. But, they will not relinquish the final voice needed to complete the set. So, you’ll need to fight them for it.

This fight is a fitting final test that truly feels like fighting a faster, stronger version of yourself. If you’re up for the challenge, then this guide should help you take them down.

    How To Find Ati

MIO Memories In Orbit The Spine

Ati is located inside The Spine, the large orb that can be reached right at the start of the game. However, it cannot be opened until the time is right.

That time is when the player has gathered all the voices except for The Spine’s. Which means to take on this final boss, you will, at the very least, need to have defeated Dr Hayln.

Once you have, go to the Spine, open it, and exhaust Ati’s dialogue to trigger the fight.

    How To Prepare

    Afterimage MIO

Ati is a strong and fast boss with a lot of different skills to call upon. Which means you’ll need to actually commit to a build and playstyle that works for you. Just about anything works in theory, but I found that a Hairpin focused strategy worked a treat.

Much like our Sol & Vin guide, I would suggest players find at least two keeper tendrils, acquire 3x Modifier extensions, and gather enough coating components for three hit points.

Then as for your mods, I would suggest a selection.of any of the following for this fight against Ati:

    • Glitch Trail
    • Afterimage
    • Protective Overlay
    • Kinetic Thrust
    • Enhanced Dodge

Of all of these, Glitch Trail was very helpful, as Ati tends to stand in place while doing their attacks a lot. So if you can Hairpin them and back off, you can deal passive damage from relative safety.

Plus, Afterimage can be very helpful as a pairing, as this will not only distract them with a decoy, but deal explosive damage if you get the positioning right.

    How To Beat Ati

Now all that’s left to do is jump into The Spine, bow before your opponent, and proceed to open a can of whoopass. Here is the moveset you’ll face against Ati

    Phase One

    Ati Phase One MIO
    • Headbutt: A standard headbutt attack where Ati charges along the ground. Jump to avoid.
    • Five Orb Attack: Ati disappears and five purple orbs form in the air. They fire from left to right, or right to left depending on where you are. Run up the wall to avoid the first, then run all the way to the other side of the room. Then, use a dodge to avoid the final orb.
    • Orb Attack: Fires a blast along the ground. It’s best to get in behind or to jump to avoid.
    • Tendril Grab: Ati settles in the middle of the arena and reaches out their tendrils. Best to get distance when this occurs because if they grab you, it’s a guaranteed hit. Can be evaded with a well-timed dodge or hairpin.

During this early phase, you’re pretty much reacting in real time to the fast paced attacks as they happen. Aside from the orb attack, you can stay on the offensive all the way through this section.

    Phase Two

    Ati Phase 2 MIO

The second phase will begin when Ati Electrifies the ground, and two Hairpin nodes will spawn. Here is what to expect in this phase.

    • Wall Bounce: Occurs while the electric ground portion is happening. Ati will bounce from one wall to the other targeting the player. Best counter here is to hug the wall, as you can actually stand there with no need to hairpin, then jump to avoid the attacks.
    • Three Orb Burst: Ati fires a triple orb attack at the player similar to their single orb attack. Ati will then teleport to the other side of the arena and do it again. Best counter is to either time your jump to go through the first and second orb, or stay grounded and dodge the lower orb.
    • Three and Three: Ati will float above head and fire three single orbs, followed by a triple blast. Just keep moving in one direction and you should avoid all these attacks.
    • Five Orb Attack Tweaked: Similar to the first phase attack, but the orbs begin shooting the middle orb first. Do the same thing as the first, but then run up the wall on the other side to avoid the last two orbs, dodging the final blast.

The key to this second phase is learning the path of the orb attacks, as their melee attacks are relatively easy to avoid. However, the orbs have a specific flight path and pattern that needs a specific approach. So make sure you work this out sooner rather than later.

If you can do this, you’ll roll credits on MIO. Congrats.
