Random events are a huge part of nearly every run in Mewgenics, with empowering highs and run-ending lows. Plenty allow you to utilize a cat’s stats to better the outcome, and a few area-specific events come in sequences.
One standout event you’re likely to find is our topic for today, Mewgenics’ Necropolis. Encountered in the Boneyard, the Necropolis will throw your cat a series of skill checks to traverse deeper.
Run-defining power may lie below, so let’s go over what we know about the Necropolis, how to prepare, and why you should seek it out.
Finding the Necropolis

The Necropolis is one of a series of area-locked events located, unsurprisingly, in the Boneyard. The Necropolis can only be encountered on random event tiles, so make sure you’re taking routes that have as many as possible.
Like any event, encountering the Necropolis is entirely random, so you may not even run into it on your first couple runs through the Boneyard.
Just keep aiming your runs to the Boneyard to maximize your chances at finding the Necropolis, and make sure you’re well-versed in the bosses of the region so you’re at least making money.
Mewgenics – Tips to Traverse the Necropolis

The Necropolis itself is a pure luck check, rolled as soon as you agree to head into the depths. Despite the randomness, there are several factors to consider before you begin your descent.
Firstly, the cat shown in the event will be in the most danger, as multiple outcomes target them specifically. Particularly unlucky cats may even be lost forever, dying then and there with no way avoid the loss.
If it’s your party carry or a cat carrying valuable gear, you may want to pass up on the Necropolis, at least for the moment.
The second factor to consider is how the party is looking as a whole. Other outcomes can see the party damaged, poisoned, or even feared. These debuffs can easily finish off a low-health party or set up the next fight in the enemy’s favor.

But let’s say the stars align, you roll the dice, and it comes out in your favor, what do you get?
The Necropolis is on the lower side of payouts, but can still net you a nice reward. Most successful checks offer up 5-10 coins, as well as a random item.
These items can vary in quality heavily, from consumables to useful trinkets like the Human Head (my personal biggest payout).
The Necropolis is just another example of Mewgenics’ focus on risk and reward, acting as the intro to more dangerous, but rewarding payouts in later Acts.
