Once I reached the end of the stage, Sanctuary II, Thanos was sitting comfortably on his throne waiting for my arrival. The fight I endured was hard, but fair. Balanced as all things should be.
It’s a fight where you need to make the most of your window to deal damage to the big purple brute, as waves of enemies and drone attacks can slowly put surely whittle down your health to zero.
However, if you know what you’re up against and don’t have Star Lord around to ruin your plans, a la The Avengers, then you should be fine. Here is How to Beat Thanos in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
Best Hero Combo For Fighting Thanos

If you’re keen to knock out all the challenges in this stage, then I would suggest you go with the duo of Phala-Vell and Iron-Man. However, for the best results, I have an alternate suggestion.
I would suggest going with Phoenix and Beta Ray Bill. Mainly because their respective movesets are geared much more toward the boss fight you’ll have to endure.
For example, getting caught in Thanos’s laser beam can easily wipe out a huge chunk of health. Beta Ray Bill will help engage the enemy on both sides with the rotating hammer attack. Then, Phoenix’s ultimate ability deals a high-intense AoE damage that engulfs everyone around her.
That said, other alternate pairs like Storm and Wolverine, or Nova and Spider-Man, can do the trick here.
All Thanos Attacks in Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Thanos is calculating and merciless in his attacks, ranging from physical to projectile-based tactics. However, the real issue here is the time he spends off the battlefield letting his cronies handle things. The key here is to make the most of the time he is in the fray.
Here is what he has in his arsenal, and some tips on how to handle each move:
Charged Uppercut

The very first move that almost knocked me out was the uppercut; but after a few heavy hits, I found that it was well telegraphed and easy to evade.
The best tactic here is to block it to stun-lock Thanos for a few seconds, giving out enough time to start whaling on him. After a successful block, prepare for another block due to the relentless nature of the attack.
Giant Laser Attack

Thanos will prepare his oversized gun and shoot out a giant laser beam to vaporize everything on his way.
The trick I uncovered that is very useful is getting behind Thanos while he blasts the laser weapon. As long as your character is not facing the oversized gun, you can land a few blows to Thanos without taking any damage from the laser.
Drone Attack

Thanos will summon three drones to both sides of the screen. But upon closer inspection, one of the drones will behave differently from the rest. It will show signs of malfunction, and its aim will be pointing at Thanos. Hitting this drone will launch an energy ball directly at Thanos, knocking him off the chair.
Bear in mind, this section will eventually end after a specific period of time, so even if you get bogged down with enemies and dodging, it won’t go on forever.
Spinning Blades

Thanos will head back to his chair and launch spinning blades that spawn four common fodder enemies. The only piece of advice here is not to get caught in the blades. The pace of the blade is slow, giving enough time to run around to a safe area to eliminate any other enemies in the arena.
In the first phase, Thanos will resort to using one spinning blade, followed by an egg spawn attack (Four). But in the later phase, once you bring down his health below 50%, Thanos will release two spinning blades.
Tips for Defeating Thanos

- Use your block against uppercuts to stun Thanos for the quick combo attack.
- When Thanos launches the Spinning Blades, the attack will transition to the drone attacks. So always be ready to take out the drone that is aiming at Thanos.
- Don’t get caught in the laser attack; it is massive, but it only aims in a straight line. You can move to dodge the laser beam, but I highly advise getting inside Thano’s spot during the laser beam attack to deal damage.
- When the drone attack begins, quickly go for the drone aiming at Thanos to end this attack phase. The last thing you want to deal with in this boss fight is dealing with common enemies and small laser projectiles coming from the drones on both sides of the screen.
That’s it, now you have beaten Thanos; only a handful of people in the world can even say it.
