You will never find a happy ending within the Little Nightmares universe, and Little Nightmares III is no exception. This story follows the adventures of Low and Alone as they navigate through various horrors to get to their happy place. The ending has left many players confused, and if you are one of them, you are not alone.
What does the Ending Mean in Little Nightmares III

The ending to Little Nightmares III is a bit ambiguous, but the common theme here is that everything that happens in the game is a part of Low’s imagination. After completing each chapter, players get a glimpse of Low inside a hospital room. He always wakes up alone, and each time he does, he has a few pictures around him. Each drawing depicts each chapter’s location, which could indicate that the regions are made up, or its something Low experienced in real life.
Since Low is mostly seen alone in his room, how did Alone come to be? During some of the segments, while Low is in the hospital room, you would have spotted a doll that he keeps close by. This doll materializes into Alone when Low is in his imaginative state. While Alone is also a fragment of Low’s imagination, he relies on her throughout the game. The theme of friendship is strongly implemented, with both of them helping each other out with various tasks.

At the very start of the game, you would have noticed Low and Alone sharing a drawing together, depicting the two of them standing in front of a house. The end plan for both of them is to escape the hospital and get their freedom. Low achieves this by traveling through mirrors during each chapter, which unlocks the next chapter. During the final mirror teleportation, the mirror breaks before Low could drag Alone with him.
While Low does reach his destination, he does so without Alone. He is shown trying to fix the mirror, but in vain, as Alone becomes just a pile of clothes on the other side. This could mean that Low is now forever in the real world and can never return to the imaginary world. Alone was the embodiment of what Low feels, which is technically alone, even after he gets his freedom.
