Fighting off zombies isn’t the only thing that you can do in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days. You can also start building a base, putting your friends to work on new weapons, and scavenge the area for more loot. As things get progressively tougher with each passing day, you would naturally want to save your hard-earned progress. However, you quickly realize that there is no save option available.
Can You Manually Save Game In Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days?

No, the game does not offer a manual save option. However, the game does autosave during several sections of the gameplay. Usually, when you start a new day, or when you travel back to your base after exploring a location, the autosave function will work to save the game. If you are still at the tutorial stages, then it is best to complete the tutorial before leaving the game, since you cannot save between segments.
Not having a way to manually save the game can have its perks. If you feel you are about to die or can’t make it out alive, you can always quit the game and go back to your previous save file. This applies to your teammates who will die as well, just restart the game to your previous save before they die to avoid the situation. Another way to save your game is you tweak your save files and perform a “save scum”.

To do that, turn off your Steam cloud saves and head over to the main game folder by right-clicking the game in your Steam library and going to Manage > Browse Local Files. This will bring up the main game folder, where you can find your save files with file names like CoreSave.sav.bak, CoreSave.sav, gamesave_0.sav, and gamesave_0.sav.bak. You can back up these save files and go back to them when things go wrong instead of replaying an entire level all over again.
Since you have to rely on the auto-save function in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, you have to stay vigilant during key moments in the game. If you are looking for more indepth guides, you can check out our guide on how to change shelters to know more.
