Subnautica 2 – Where To Find Celestine & What Its Used For

Like the original game, Subnautica 2 sees an explorer stranded in the middle of a vast ocean on an alien planet, needing to scavenge supplies and resources to survive. Some of these materials are plentiful and are found everywhere, while others are rarer and can only be found in certain areas – Celestine is one of this.

Celestine isn’t as rare as other materials, but it can be hard to track down unless you know the sort of areas it tends to be located. Below, we’ll tell you where you can find some Celestine in Subnautica 2 when you need it, where it tends to be found, and what it’s commonly used for.

Where can you find Celestine in Subnautica 2

As you start to make some progress in Subnautica 2, you’ll come across a few alien structures, such as an alien Power Plant, an Observatory, and a Metal Farm. The material can also often be found within the Needler Mango region, just south of the Research Outpost.

Celestine can be farmed from these three locations and should net you a decent amount that’ll last for a while. It can also be found in underwater caves across the ocean and looks like a blue crystaline substance that’s often jutting out of walls.

To harvest it, blast it with the Sonic Resonator and then pick up the pieces. A good clue to locate Celestine in Subnautica 2 is to target areas where lots of sea creatures tend to gather. The substance is made from fossilised creatures, and can still be found in their habitats – or the habitats of other creatures.

Celestine isn’t a resource you’ll need right away, and by the time you do, you’ll already be several hours into the game and may even have a stash already. But now you’ll know where to get a good amount of it once you start needing it, and where it can usually be farmed.

What can Celestine be used for in Subnautica 2?

Celestine can be used as a material to craft the following items:

    • Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1: Requires 3 pieces of Celestine (plus other materials) to craft
    • Axum Wall Lamp: Requires 1 piece of Celestine (plus other materials) to craft
    • Strontium: Requires 2 pieces of Celestine (plus other materials) to craft

We recommend using the Tadpole to go hunting for Celestine, as it’s usually located in deep water and far from safety. Ironically, you can use Celestine to upgrade the Tadpole, which makes hunting for it even easier.
