Each companion in Outer Worlds 2 has a set of unique quests to complete. Helping them out will unlock new abilities or give you XP for completing these quests. After acquiring Valerie, she requires your help to unlock the Lockbox by finding 4 unique Advanced Decryption Keys. This guide covers how to unlock the Lockbox in Outer Worlds 2.
A Healthy Improvement Quest Guide Outer Worlds 2
While completing the Recalling the Score quest, you will be sent to the Incognito, where Valerie will automatically speak to you about the lockbox, triggering the start of the quest. She will instruct you to unlock the first lockbox using the key she gives you. The first lockbox is nearby, and unlocking it will give Auntie’s Acidic Dematerializer. Speak to Val again, and she will point you towards the second lockbox. For this one, you need to gather 4 Advanced Decryption Keys.
These keys are found naturally during exploration or after completing quests or speaking to certain vendors. But, for the sake of this quest, we will explore where to get the four earliest Advanced Decryption Keys and unlock the lockbox quickly.
Advanced Decryption Key Location #1
While in Paradise Island, head far west to head into the Ministry of Accuracy. You would get here during the Refreshing Bit of News quest. Explore the tower to find the High Security Lockbox and the first key under the Infantry Cap.
Advanced Decryption Key Location #2
Visit Arthur Cromby at More Perfect Goods Store in Fairfield, Paradise Island. It costs 1,000 Bits to purchase the key.
Advanced Decryption Key Location #3
Collect the Diabolical Drones of Doom bounty from the Fairfield Bounty Terminal and complete the quest objective to collect a key.
Advanced Decryption Key Location #4
For the final key, complete the Schemes of the Secret Smugglers side quest, which can be picked up from the terminal inside the Fairfield office.
With all four keys in hand, return to Incognito and use them on the Lockbox. You will get Val’s Mod Kit, which you need to take to any nearby workbench. While utilizing the workbench, select the Party Upgrades option and pick any of Val’s upgrades. You can always switch out the upgrades at any workbench, giving you free rein to customize Val’s build.
This also ends the companion quest in Outer Worlds 2, and you will receive the following rewards.
