The Clawline allows you to throw the Needle as a grappling hook that you use to attach and strike at enemies. You are basically unlocking a grappling hook in the game. Getting to the spot could be quite difficult as it requires you to navigate through a couple of areas before getting to he altar to unlock the ability. Where to Unlock Clawline Ability in Hollow Knight: Silksong?
You will unlock the Clawline ability at the Cauldron located in the Underworks section, right south of the Citadel.
Getting to the Underworks:
Here we will go from Bellway Station at Grand Bellway in Choral Chambers to the Underworks region.
- First, get to the Bellway Station at Grand Bellway in Choral Chambers. Now head left, exit the area, and climb up and take the first opening on the right.
- Now keep moving right until you arrive at the elevator, and hit the lever on the top of it to activate the machine. Once the elevator reaches the bottom section, exit the spot and take the route on the left.
- Here, jump on the hanging platforms and use your Drifter’s Cloak ability to glide to the left of the room. Here, a flying bug will be guarding the entrance. Defeat the bug and move to the left. Now you have arrived at the Underworks.
- Here, just keep moving towards the left until you spot a lever, hit the lever, and you will find a Bench next to it. Sit on the Bench to rest and heal up.
Now we set our journey to the Cauldron in the middle of the Underworks.
Get to the Cauldron
Now we will set out for the Cauldron region, where we will find the altar for the Clawline ability.
- Now, from the Bench, turn left and start moving until you are in the lava room. Here, use your Drifter’s Clock ability to glide towards the bottom of the floor. On your way, you will find plenty of flying bugs waiting to hit you; just carefully navigate to the bottom of the floor.
Note: Don’t free-fall; there is nothing but pure lava at the bottom of the floor.
- Once you make it to the end of the floor, turn right and enter the room. This room is fairly linear, but you have to deal with a lot of running lava and exploding enemies. Once you are at the end of the room, jump on the wall on the right to climb up and take the route upwards.
- Now all you have to do is climb up, avoid the first door on the left, and take the second door, near the top of the room.
You have made it to the Cauldron, the floor is filled with lava, luckily, there are some platforms floating on it. Use the Drifter’s Cloak ability to jump on the platforms to reach the end of the room. You will find the dark altar. Interacting with the altar will help you learn the Clawline Ancestral Art ability in the game.
