How To Start Claws Of Awaji DLC in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows

The Claws of Awaji DLC in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is now available to download and play. The expansion introduces an all-new island for players to explore and do even more assassinations, parkour, stealth, and combat across 16th-century Japan. Here is how to go about doing all of this in the newest addition to the base game.

Claws Of Awaji DLC – How To Start

Konatsu Claws of Awaji AC Shadows

You start the Claws of Awaji DLC by speaking to Konatsu, a contact sent by Hattori Hanzo, waiting for you at the hideout. Once you interact with her, she will inform you about a puppet show that could possibly hold clues to Naoe’s mother. Needless to say, that gets your attention and starts The Puppet Show quest. In this quest, you are supposed to go talk to Junjiro, and for the location, like in all other quests in the base game, you are given a series of clues for the location:

    • The puppet show is in Settsu
    • It is near Nakayama Peak
    • It is at Nishinomiya Shrine

Once you reach the location, watch the (pretty detailed) cutscene, and you will be well on your way to unlocking the DLC.

Can I Start The DLC Before Completing The Base Game In Asssassin’s Creed: Shadows?

No, the Claws of Awaji is end-game content; you need to have completed the main story in the base game for you to be able to access the DLC. You will, in fact, need to have completed the following quest chains before being able to go to Awaji:

    • Naoe’s Personal Quests
    • Yasuke’s Personal Quests
    • Shinbakufu Target Circle
    • Templar Target Circle
    • Junjiro’s League Quests
    • Main Story Missions

There is a good reason for this; the enemies that you run across in Awaji are high-level enemies that tend to deal more damage. These enemies also turn up in higher numbers, and you will need all the skills and upgrades that you have painstakingly gathered to defeat them.
