Suikoden 1 and 2’s remastered versions bring back the beloved JRPG to PC, Switch, and consoles. You get to revisit known locations and meet familiar faces as you venture through the levels and try to befriend the 108 Stars of Destiny. Some characters require a couple more steps even after they have been recruited, and Nanami is a character that requires a bit of help later in the game. This guide will show you how to save Nanami in Suikoden 2 HD Remaster.
Suikoden 2 HD Remaster: Saving Nanami
Saving Nanami is crucial to unlocking the good ending in Suikoden 2 HD Remaster. The events that will transpire in Rockaxe will have her either dead or alive, depending on how well you prepare yourself before heading over there. If you wish to keep her alive, just follow the steps below.
- Increase Nanami’s Protection stat to beyond 121. Also, make sure that she is at level 55 and beyond, while also giving her the Stone of Protection.
- Equip some high defensive gear and the Bright Shield Rune to give her extra protection for the events that are going to happen.
- Before heading over to Rockaxe, it is best to have all 108 Stars of Destiny recruited and gain the Forgiver Sign from it.
- Be sure that all of the 108 recruits are alive, which you can check by talking to Luc and accessing the Tablet of Stars. If you are missing one or more characters, then Leknaat will not appear to hand over the Forgiver Sign.
- Once you are ready, continue going through Rockaxe till you reach the part where you will talk to Jowy.
- Be prepared to press the Select key as fast as possible just as you see Gordeau arrive. This is an important step in saving Nanami, so select whichever dialog option that appears on your chat box ASAP.
- If your character whips out their weapon alongside Nanami, then you are one step closer to getting a good ending.
- In the next scene, after Nanami has been taken back to the castle to be healed, Huan will mention that he cannot save her. But there will be a special cutscene where he will call Shu for help, indicating that Nanami can still be saved.
So all that’s left is to wait for her to heal up, and you can check the Tablet of Stars to know her status. If she is alive and well, you have a few more steps to complete before you can get to the good ending. For starters, after defeating the Beast Rune, pick the options where your character will refuse to lead the Dunan army. Then, travel to Tenzan Pass east of the last dungeon or north of Kyaro Village to meet Jowy.
There will be a short duel, but don’t try to fight him. Rather, stay in the defense at all times. Once the fight ends and Jowy asks you to take the Black Sword Rune, refuse the offer, and this will unlock the good ending of Suikoden 2.
