However, these are hidden behind locked chests and keys, and trying to get one of them can quickly branch out into a series of items and keys to be fetched. You will encounter one such locked chest within the Regalith Grand Cathedral, one of the first dungeons you explore.
In this guide we have detailed out how to open the Grand Cathedral Chest in Metaphor: ReFantazio, which helps unlock a powerful light armor later on: the Exorcist’s Cassock.
Grand Cathedral Chest Location in Metaphor ReFantazio
The Grand Cathedral Chest is located on the Servant’s Chamber top floor within the Regalith Grand Cathedral. This is a dungeon that unlocks as part of the main storyline. You will enter the dungeon on 6/11 as part of the quest to defeat Undead Grius. This will unlock the front entrance to the dungeon, but after the quest is completed the main entrance will be closed. You can revisit the dungeon through the Catacombs later on. The chest is however, locked, and you need the Treasure Chest keys to unlock it.
How To Open The Grand Cathedral Chest In Metaphor: ReFantazio
The Grand Cathedral Chest is unlocked by using a Treasure Chest key which is given to you by the Pale Monk located in the Guest Room of the Cathedral. However, as it so happens, the Guest Room itself is locked, and so first, you will need to find the Guest Room Key.
Guest Room Key Location In Metaphor: ReFantazio
The Guest Room key is in the room on the right side of the map, and can be identified by an exclamation mark on the map. But, surprise surprise, this room is also not accessible through the main door! Thankfully, you don’t need to go hunt for yet another key; just enter the room on the right of the one with the exclamation mark. Once inside, break the barrels near the wall and you will spot a hole in the wall. Squeeze through the wall to get to the other room, then investigate the corpse in front of you. You will get the Guest Room key from the body.
With the key in hand, it is now time to search for the room that it opens: The Guest Room.
Guest Room Location In Metaphor: ReFantazio
The Guest Room can be found on the south side of the Servant’s Chamber floor. It is the first room on the right side after taking the stairs to the lower section. Use the Guest Room Key here and unlock the door, but be warned, as there are tons of enemies on the other side. Defeat them all, then talk to the Pale Monk to receive the Treasure Chest Key. Make your way back to the top floor to finally unlock the Grand Cathedral Treasure Chest.
How To Get & Use The Sanctified Amulet In Metaphor: ReFantazio
Unlocking the Grand Cathedral Treasure Chest located on the top floor of the Servant’s Chambers gets you the Sanctified Amulet in Metaphor: ReFantazio. This is required to unlock a hidden treasure chest. The Amulet itself can’t be equipped, but it is used to get your hands on the Exorcist’s Cassock, a powerful light armor.
Later in your exploration of the Regalith Grand Cathedral, you will encounter a Gold Statue in the Reception Chamber that will respond strongly to the Sanctified Amulet. This will trigger a cutscene and the giant statue will lean over, forming a bridge with its hands.
Come out of the room, and keep climbing up through the staircase till you arrive at a ladder. Take the ladder, go through the rooms straight ahead, and keep moving as you come across flowerbeds and arrive at the foot of a statue. You should be at the location shown in the image above. From this location, take the stairs on the left and you will arrive at the arms of the statue that act as a bridge. On the other side, on your left will be a treasure chest with the Exorcist’s Cassock.
The Exorcist’s Cassock is a purple-tier light armor robe with 100 DEF and Magic + 3, and a passive effect of Increasing Evasion against dark.
