Boots of Springheel Jak Quest Guide In Oblivion Remastered

Each area you explore in Oblivion Remastered will offer you some quests or side quests to pick up. Sometimes, you can collect some unique rewards after completing said quest, so it is worth taking your time to explore and pick up whatever quests you can find. There are some magical boots stashed away, and Grey Fox requires your help to locate and bring them back to him. This guide will explain where to complete the Boots of Springheel Jak quest in Oblivion Remastered.

How To Start The Boots of Springheel Jak Quest

This quest is part of the Thieves guide, and only unlocks after you have fenced stolen goods worth 800 gold. After that, wait around and a messenger will come to you with some news. You will be tasked to meet Gray Fox at Ganredhel’s house, Cheydinhal, so go ahead and do just that.

This starts the Boots of Springheel Jak quest, where Gray Fox will require your assistance to retrieve a pair of magical boots. The only person who knows about the boot’s whereabouts is Jakben, the Earl of Imbel.

Jakben’s home can be found in the Imperial City. Speak to the beggars around the city to learn more about him, and you can check your map to know who to talk to. Also, head over to the Market District and speak to Gemellus Axius. You can find him between 8 AM and 12 PM on Sundas, Tirdas, and Turdas.

Speaking to him reveals that he works under Jakben, and you will get more clues about his master. After gathering all the clues, head over to Talos Plaza District and go to the house between Tiber Septim Hotel and Umbacano Manor to find Jakben’s house.

    Search for Clues

Wait outside Jakben’s house till 10 PM, and you will find him walking out for his evening stroll. Stop him and question him about Springheel Jak’s tomb. He will tell you where it is and give you the key to the crypts. You can also speak to him after acquiring the Imbel Genealogy book from his study, which can be found by lockpicking the main door, heading upstairs to the dining hall, and going further up the stairs towards Jakben’s study.

Lockpick the desk to retrieve the journal and then speak to him. Regardless of which path you pick to obtain the key to the crypts, head down to the main floor and find the door that will lead you to Jakben Imbel’s Basement. Once down, find the wooden door to the Catacombs, then keep heading east inside the dungeon to find Springheel Jak’s Coffin.

You won’t find the boots inside the coffin, but you will find a diary that says that Jakben is actually the original thief and is now immortal because of vampirism. He will then appear inside the catacombs to fight you, or you will meet him for battle while you head up to the dining hall.

Wherever you find him, defeat him and collect the boots off his corpse. He can also be charmed if you don’t want to fight him, and he will hand over the boots willingly. Head back to Gray Fox and hand it over to receive 500 Gold as your reward.
