Dynasty Warriors Origins is an exhilarating take on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, but has a unique approach to the storyline. The game lets you explore the lush green lands of China with plenty of secrets to discover. There are rare collectible items called Old Coins that you can gather during your general gameplay, but the use for this peculiar item is shrouded in mystery. In this guide we show you all the uses for Old Coins and how to get them in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
How To Get Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors Origins
There are a few main ways you can farm Old Coins, and most of them are pretty simple to follow. We have detailed each method below.
Exploration
The first and most common way to find Old Coins is during your exploration. While out on your adventure, you might spot a slight glistening light deep within the foliage, and if you investigate it, you will find Old Coins. There are no fixed spawn points for them, and they will appear randomly around the map. You just have to keep an eye out for a bright sparkling light within the greenery or crevices of structures and objects to get them. If you have the Eyes of the Sacred Bird, you can use that to get a clearer look at Old Coin locations.
Completing Missions and Requests
Each time you complete some of the main story missions, you can get Old Coins as a reward for them. While not all missions do hand over Old Coins, this is just one of the ways to get them. Once you reach Chapter 2, you can start picking up Requests, which are additional side quests. Completing some of them will also offer Old Coins as rewards.
Get from Letters
The further into the game you go, the more your heroic feats will be talked about. As you get famous, you will start getting admirers. Sometimes, these admirers will drop letters as a gift, and opening some of them will give you Old Coins. But this is the rarest method to get Old Coins, so you are better off completing other objectives in the game to get this item.
Raising Peace Levels
While exploring an area, you can pick up region-related tasks. Completing them will help raise the Peace Level, and, in turn, help you collect rewards from that particular region’s Waymark. You can check out those rewards to get a random chance of getting Old Coins.
Increasing Character Bonds
In Dynasty Warriors Origins, you can find companions to help you on your journey, but they will only join you if you have strengthened your bonds with them. Sometimes, if your bond is strong enough, they might leave behind little presents. On a random chance, you might get Old Coins.
How To Use Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors Origins
You need to progress through the game till you reach Chapter 2 and have the Shui Jing Retreat unlocked. You can find this place in Yu Province, and the building is right next to the Ji Inn.
