Everything On The Gathering Hut In Foundation 1.0: How To Get, Use & More

Foundation is a less stringent but fun take on medieval city-building games. There is a lot you can do to keep your people happy, and keep the city going. One of the main requirements is food, and you need to make a designated area to store food for later use. That’s where the Gathering Hut comes in, and this guide will give you the rundown of how a Gathering Hut works in Foundation.

How To Get The Gathering Hut In Foundation

The Gathering Hut is one of the earliest structures you can unlock in Foundation, and you can do it as part of the tutorial. To get the Gathering Hut, keep playing the game till you have unlocked the Builder’s Workshop. Also, ensure that you have cleared up some space in your designated area to add more buildings.

Once you do all that, you should get the Gathering Hut automatically unlocked and added to your build menu. It will require 10x wood and 10x gold to craft one, and you might already have these resources by now. Find a large empty plot of land, preferably near some berry bushes and place the Gathering Hut there. It is now ready for use!

How To Use The Gathering Hut In Foundation

After building your Gathering Hut, you can assign workers. The Gathering Hut supports up to 3 workers at a time, and after assigning them, they will automatically start collecting berries from the bushes nearby and using the Gathering Hut to store them. If you click on one of the berry bushes, you get an insight of all the berry bush locations within your vicinity.

The amount of berries gathered by the villagers will be impacted by the distance between their house and the Gathering Hut. The further the distance, the more time goes into traveling to the Gathering Hut, giving them less time to gather the berries.

How To Use Berries From The Gathering Hut

Villagers cannot consume or sell the berries collected straight from the Gathering Hut. Rather, you need to build a Granary close to the Gathering Hut to collect all the stored berries. The Granary gets unlocked a bit after building your Gathering Hut, and once you have this structure unlocked, you can then place the two structures close together.

You can then assign a Transporter to the Granary, and they will be in charge of collecting all the berries from the Gathering Hut and transporting them to the Granary. Then, if you have a marketplace unlocked, the vendors can visit the Granary, collect the berries, and take them to their stalls to sell.

And with that, your villagers won’t go hungry, as they finally get food to eat with the help of the Gathering Hut. There is a lot more to learn when it comes to playing Foundation, and we have a guide on the best early game money making method that you can check out to know more.
